Saturday evening, loaded up and took "Wife Unit" on a back roads long way loop to supper at Waynesboro El Puerto .... but first on the way we drove some far western Shenandoah Valley unpaved farm roads and she really enjoyed a look at some really old farms and the old homes, some a couple hundred years old, that we don't see from the main roads .... then a staop at a good car wash with new pumps and high pressure and a good no spot rinse ..... and then some "Viva Mexico" with mixed pork and beef .... followed by a long paved road ride home stopping by a DQ for a cone, listening to "40s on 4" (XM) watching the day's light fade away ahead of us as a purple sky filled with stars appeared.

Wow, so this is between Santa Rosa and Clines Corner? Looks "colder" than I recall .... and 30 miles of parking .... how long did that kill?
Might have been faster to go up to old Santa Fe Trail route and around .... J/K Understand it was "miserable" but I do love a road trip.

I thought about going up to Santa Fe but it was 4 miles to any offramp. That alone took 5 hours to conquer. I just said screw it and stayed heading toward Albuquerque. Knowing my luck, any detour I take would take longer. I was doomed to be stuck in that traffic, listening to truckers talk about the crazy things they'd do to their wives when they get home, lol.

Haha yeah man, my truck was overloaded in both towing weight and payload, especially since I have a winch bumper, winch, bed cage, and larger tires. The M/T's I had on were a no-go. Lesson learned, no mudders on daily drivers. But yeah man, 29 Palms to Camp Lejeune, crazy distance! Did you take the I40 all the way over there as well?

Drove it for a little today. It figures I came up to a dead battery . I've been giving my car the attention lately. So I got it jumped, took it for a quick 5 mile run and put it back in the garage. Inspection is due in December. We'll see how that goes, after that i'm hoping to keep it in the garage till March. Pulled the battery out and brought it inside.

Yup, I-40 the entire way. Unlike you i didn't hit much for traffic the entire trip. I got lucky I suppose.

Replaced the remaining 7 fuel injectors. Ford replaced one already under the extended warranty before it damaged the engine. Got genuine Motorcraft injectors from Rock Auto for ~$35 each. 94,600 miles and other than the cam phaser noise, you can't tell when the engine is running- smooth as the day it rolled off the assembly line. I'll take care of the phasers this next summer.

(Re)Ordered my Mini D2S projector kit from TRS. New 4500k XB bulbs and G37-R shrouds. Can't wait to get it! Got $85 off for the BF deals.

Also ordered lift shackles, a driveshaft spacer, and one more thing I can't remember haha.

So much for "I'm not gonna spend any money for Black Friday/Cyber Monday"

Haha I got another pistol on Black Friday instead of truck parts. KMAC, I'm still learning everyday but would you care to enlighten me on what you got? I know about the headlights but spacer and shackles?

Because of my lift, my driveshaft has been pulled out of the tailshaft of the transmission a little too far for my liking. If it was just a 6" on the 2WD like normal, wouldn't be an issue. But 4x4s can need spacers, and mine is at the height 4x4s get put at after a lift. It can cause a leak on that tailshaft seal and/or vibration. Fingers crossed, I haven't had any issues, but I got a spacer as a preventative measure, especially because of the shackles that'll be going on. The spacer attaches to the yoke (diff end) and effectively makes the driveshaft a bit longer so it goes back into the trans and makes better contact. It's a 3/4" thick piece of billet aluminum from Zone Offroad.

The shackles are where the leaf spring packs attach to the frame closest to the back on the truck. I got shorter ones, which raises the rear end. It'll probably net around an 1" to 1 1/8".

Just discovered an exhaust leak. Yay for me, cuz I'm broke for two weeks, lol. According to my research, the stock manifolds are garbage and crack quite easily, so I'm considering just going with a set of stainless steal set of shorty headers. But this fix will come in time. So far, no codes and the sound isn't very loud so I'm thinking I should last two weeks before something horrible erupts.

Thanks for the info, I know there's lot of little to things to take into account when getting a lift but that's a new one for me.

To get back to this thread, finally had some time to wash the truck and give it a good wax.

You'll be fine, it's not a big deal at all. Personally, I'd do a set of long tubes (though obviously I'm heavily biased cause that's what I have), but they're more work than shorties, which tend to bolt on to the factory exhaust downstream. The OBX long tube kit, because it has a mid pipe included, is worth considering.

No problem. Dang it, I'm gonna have to wash mine tomorrow or Friday before the show . . . forgot about that.
