New Mod - might as well be honest

Here is my latest mod. What do you think? Flame if you want, most who commented at work on Friday did not like it. My objective it to carry bikes in the back and front, leaving the box for storing gear, and the cab for people.

I like the concept but even as lax with caring about what you do in AZ, our Cops would not like it out here.... visibility

It looks like the cops could get you for obstructed view. other then that if it accomplishes what you want then it looks like a good idea.

That has to be up there for "worst mod of the year"!

As eveyone else said, I doubt it'd be looked kindly on by your local police.

How many bikes do you carry at a time?

Agreed about the visibility. You are asking for trouble.

Buy a little trailer and be done with it.

I'm an engineer, so I love the ingenuity & practicality. It just looks a little awkward, perhaps annoying when you drive. (?)

Clever means to an end, but visibility.

It looks like you could mount it in a receiver hitch so why not put it in the back hitch.

^What he said. It wouldn't be in the back where your gear is, and it would not be a visibility issue.

I'd make sure to cover them, or something. I'd guess they'd be prone to rock chips and bug splatter. I don't think bike clear is as thick as auto clear.

I'm an engineer too. What is so ingenious about it? A hitch in the front with a bike rack attached to it. You seem easily impressed.

This mod is dangerous, not to mention it looks ridiculous.

Thanks, I underestimated what I've accomplished here.

I can carry 4 bikes on the front, plus 4 bikes on the back, plus 2 in the bed for a total of 10 bikes. That would be max, a tight packing of the bikes, and would take a considerable amount of time to load. With only four or five people riding, we can work together and load, or unload, all the 4 or 5 bikes in less than a minute.

I'll take it to breakfast this morning and get a picture from inside the cab. It does not seem to be any more obstructing than a snow ploy.

OK maybe not worst of the year, it's still early! But if I saw that in a parking lot, i'd probably take a pic to post here so we could have a little chuckle.

If you've only got 4 or 5 people riding, why so you need to be able to carry 10 bikes? I've got a bike carrier that holds 3 bikes and sits in the trailer hitch, works great.
