Factory Nav interface

I recently picked up an '07 lariat 4x4 with the factory Navigation. It still has the 4p navigation disk in it (presumably from the factory). Does anyone know if the updated navigation disks (7p, 8p, etc) update anything other than just the maps? The interface for the radio, while functional, looks like it was designed on an etch-a-sketch. I was hoping that an updated nav disk might have some system updates to freshen the interface a bit and/or add some needed features (like Sirius artist & song in the top status bar).

I have the 7p in my 2006 Lariat and it looks exactly the same.

I too had a 4p originally.

Where did you get the updated disc? The dealer or the Nav manufacture? Also if you don't mind me asking, how much did it run?

I got an update offer in the mail from Ford, it was around $175, which is WAY too much. Maybe there are other places to get this from. If you find anything please let me know.

When I bought my truck the dealer said ford would send update (free), well thats not the case. No biggie, it was an honest mistake, I had already bought the truck so its not like he was trying to use it as a selling point.

I would consider the 8P for $199 if it updated the interface. But for just updating the maps, I'm going to have to pass (or ebay it).

Thanks.

Thanks.

Why would anyone consider purchasing a product DIRCTLY from the manufactureer????? It's always more expensive.

I got my 7P off eBay a few years ago for ~ $100.
