Thats it, really? I thought there was specific ones and all different kinds?

- This is just what I'm getting from reading all this. I've been following this thread for a while and all I got out of it is that I don't understand any of it.... Haha

yea there's a ton of different kinds of bulb types, led quantity, colors, brightness, bulb lengths. those are the sizes the bulbs you need, some people have had trouble with fitment of some of the 194s in their license plates though because of them being too long but i didn't seem to.

Would I be better off getting a different size just to be safe? Or do they somehow get the long ones to fit too?

I also plan to get V-LED bulbs only, and 5000k in color. Make me a shopping cart people!

Here is my roof for reference.

I have this same set up in my 2005 F150 Supercrew, lariat. how hard did you pull on the front map houseing before it popped off? Did the entire plasic houseing come off, or just the part where the sunroof switch is and map lenses? Also, how did you pop off the rear dome light lens? I just ordered PUTCO's LED lights at Summit, part no. PUT-980021. PUTCO still manufactures the LED's for the replacement of the rear dome light. Now I am ready to get the delivery and install... I am just afraid of breaking some fastners / lenses... any good advice on how to get to the bulbs?

Cheers,

You will need the smallest LEDs for the plates/ V-LEDs part #194_x5_HP_w_6k should work well most have reported. I will be buying these.

For maps, their 13 LED SMT towers seem to be the exact spec length of the OEM bulbs. Look at page 1 post 1 ( mine ) to see some pics and the result lighting. Good bulb would be the 194_x5_HP_5k which is what I am getting for the bright white non blue hue.

Your dome will be a #578 and the new High Power ( HP ) flank board seems highly popular for this. #211_4HP_w_5k is what I will get for my Supercrew moonroof truck.

i got the switchbacks and the flasher relay in my 06 and they dont light up at all. i installed HID bi-xenon at the same time. when i turn the lights on my odo backlight flashes with the signal and the two turn signal indicators stay on. any ideas what i did? do i need to install the warning indicators with the hid kit?

BTW, the stock amber bulbs work perfectly fine with the hid kits.

try turning the bulbs around since leds are polarity sensitive

see my 211 bulb was too narrow for my screw sunroof truck. the back light. it was 2 mm too short and wiggled side to side in there. vleds classifies the 578 in with the 211 and thats not true. the 211 is 22 mm wide , and the 578 is 24mm wide. i bought the 211 (22 mm) and then it moved around in there and would shut off on me randomly and had to buy the 24 mm one. if you have a scew truck, measure the width of the dome light bulb in the back. then find the one on vleds that matches that width. trust me.

also good advice, if you do leds, do them everywhere. i did the domes and the cargo lamps (that light up the bed) and then was pissed cause my liscence plate ones didnt match the cargo lights. you should plan on doing

all the interior lights (map and dome)
cargo light (that lights up the bed)
liscence plate lights

at the minimum

Why didn't you just squeeze the terminals closer? I have the 211 and it fits fine. Maybe someone put a bigger one in there before and streched out the terminals.

Cheers,
Be careful pulling down the map lights, I pulled mine down wrong and broke the tabs on it. Ford wouldn't cover the damage under warranty either. The dome light should just pop off with a flat screwdriver.

i did, they didnt want to come that close. and i didnt want to extend them but so far inwards. then theyd just bend themselves back out in a while. the bulb was the stock one, nothing was out of place. plus why bend something in more and over exert it when you can just buy the bulb thats the right width? no reason in making a square peg fit in a round hole when you can just get a round peg in the first place

Trying to find an alternate to the 211 4HP they are bright as hell! Got the map lights and they look great. Is there one that is not as bright as the HP's?
