Thanks for all the help ! I recently just purchase the shackle hitch from 4Wheelparts along with a 30ft 3in recovery strap rated at 30,000 pounds

I was wondering now what size D-ring would be best for attatching straps . The size thing is a bit confussing.

Yalls stories are great, but it does suck when you try to help and find yourself in a bind.
That's the one I have on my truck.

The size is the diameter of the clevis you need a properly rated one.

I also have the Warn unit. It is the only one, forged in the US. The zinc coating leaves a little to be desired. I sprayed mine black with Krylon, before installing. Also seeing as the front hooks are closed, so I ordered a couple of shackles from SPA. They offer Americn made certified, OSHA approved, and imported clevis. I had to paint them as well, and added a set of urethane isolators from Daystar.

Here are a few pictures of my setup.

Most everything I have seen says at least 9500 lbs. Most units around that size are 9500, or 12500.

200-ton clevis

Yes, it is larger than that wood pallet!

Nice find. A shackle so big that it requires a 1/2ton truck just to move it around.

LOL....I seen that one when I was looking and settled on a pair of 1 1/4'' Clevis. Rated at 12 1/2 ton. These should work for me.

Just a rough estimate, based on 7.5 in 1018 stock, that thing should weigh in over 1200 lbs. This is a low estimate as forgings are generally denser, and thus heavier.

I bought a light weight unit at Harbor Freight. Is this one tough enough? I can always use it around the yard on my garden tractor.

D-Ring Receiver Hitch

Looks OK. I am extremely leery of Harbor Freight products, after having a pickle fork explode, while trying to remove the tie rods on my Nissan 4x4.
