45,000 Recommended Maintenance
45,000 Recommended Maintenance
Hey all,
My truck is an '06 that I bought last summer with brand new tires from a reputable dealership. It is approaching the 45,000 mark, and I am looking at the recommended scheduled maintenance chart they gave me. What/which of those items do you recommend I do? I plan on getting my oil changed, but what is necessary, and what is them trying to make money??? They recommend checking rotors, pads, engine filter, cabin filter, tire rotation and much more..! Input?
Thanks,
Steve

Check the tranny fluid if it hasn't already been changed. Get the fuel filter replaced. Have the pads looked at, rotors should be good unless you feel vibration when braking. Pretty sure 06's dont have cabin filters and I would have the tires rotated.
I disagree. I live in Chicago and am sporting 90,800 and the coolant looks good and is at a fine level. I'm pretty sure this stuff is good for 100,000. It's all in opinion really. There are some guys that say the trans is good for 100k. I had mine flushed at 36,000
I would test the coolant with test strips and a hydrometer ( I think its called that). The coolant sometimes breaks down and the protectant qualities for the aluminum components falls away. I also would flush the brake lines and put new fluid in. There are also test strips for that as well!

Just look for "Owners Guides" in the list on the left.
Odd that the other link said you need to be registered. I'm not registered on the site. Oh well.

And then?
I dont know what you guys are looking at, but the schedule I go by says to CHANGE the transmission fluid every 30K miles. No mention of flushing anything.
Anyone who runs these transmissions for 100K miles without maint. is an idiot. And you can take that to the bank...when you go to get a loan for your new transmission.
