Was it the Roush package that made you key my truck?
So yeah about 30 mins ago, broad daylight, in a grocery store parking lot; my truck was keyed. As I walked up to the drivers side I noticed a dust which I thought was weird because I just washed it, then I saw a line and went to wipe when I realized it was a key.
It starts at the drivers door handle and goes down across the door, across the fender and they even tried to keep it going across the wheel flare. It's DEEP, like screwdriver and not key deep.
I saw it and jumped in the truck and put the seat down and wait with the windows rolled up (I was sweating bullets) with my SOG in my hand, hoping they would come by laughing to making any kind of indication it was them. After 45 mins I assumed they had done it as they left and I came home and put a claim in. My deductible is $500 so that really blows, but I have since lowered it to $100.
I just dont see why someone would have wanted to KEY it, only thing I can think of is maybe jealously or because it stands out a bit.
Real quick, ugly photo. I used a polarizer to see through the reflections

Check with the grocery store. They may have security camera footage. That kind of damage would be considered criminal mischief, which could be a felony in your state. It depends on the cost to repair it.
That was the first thing I did when I got home and they said they dont have any cameras in the parking lot.
Kind of Ironic in that I parked near the rear of the lot to avoid carts and cars, only to have this happen.
I have the estimate appointment on Monday at 4pm, so we'll see. I kind of hope it is well over $500, it would make me feel better about having to shell out the 5 bills for this.

If only you could have caught them in the act. If I caught someone in the act of keying my truck, they'd be on the ground trying to get that gaping hole in their leg to stop bleeding, left by my buck knife. I would seriously cripple a man for life if I caught them doing such a thing.

Yeah I feel the same way. I have my SOG knife, a Smith and Wesson with 15 hollow points in the mag, an 290G bear spray in the truck.
I would probably be in jail right now if I had seen them.

Wow, that is a deep one! I am sorry for your predicament, & how it must feel! I would find it very hard not to seriously injure or mame someone, if I ever caught them in that cowardly act! File a claim with your insurance, get it repaired, & try to get beyond this! Just for the heck of it, I would bait them on another nice day, after it was fixed in the same spot, while conducting servalence from a friends car........Get pictures, call the Police, & press charges!!!
well man i know that this sounds kind of bad, but that's why you pay your insurance every month. i'm not trying to come across as crappy or anything but at least you will fresh paint right? but it's still an avoidable hassle for some douche bag to do this. it will all work out man.
oh yeah i just noticed something too, do you see anything wrong with your pictures? you might want to get your windows tinted because i just noticed a nice screen sticking out of the dash that could be a lure to potiential theift....just my 2 cents

As for bait, I thought about it, but it would only end up with me in Jail.
I should have lowered my deductible to $100 much sooner, it was only $4, YES FOUR MORE DOLLARS A MONTH. Lesson learned.

This store is about 1000Ft away from a College and a HS. I am almost certain it was a college kid.
Man that is just painful. I have never seen someone keying that deep before. That had to be a tool. With the economy the way it is and people losing their jobs, could have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
That is what insurance is for (talk about a scam). Just remember, not worth going to jail for property that can be replaced or fixed. Look on the bright side, your truck is going to be as good as new soon, but that person will still have a crappy life that keeps them in parking lots tearing up other people's stuff.

If you really want it to blend they're going to have to run it all the way back. That's the nature of the beast when dealing with black/blue clearcoat paints. You'll notice the difference not so much in the color but the texture.
