Was it the Roush package that made you key my truck?

Oh yeah, lets encourage vigilantism. The problem with your line of thought is: what if he gets the wrong person? He has no hard evidence pointing to any person. Anonymously attacking somebody else's stuff, just because you think they vandalised your stuff, is wrong. What if they keyed his truck because they thought, incorrectly, that he messed up some of their stuff?

You're an idiot. How about you run around Edmonton keying every Red FX4, now.

Keying a vehicle is about the most cowardly thing someone can do.

I ran my Dark Grey '05 F150 Supercrew FX4 along a gate on my fence and dented up and scratched the rear door and the bed pretty bad. I claimed it on my insurance and it spent 3 day in the body shop. While it was there, I had a rental truck from Enterprise. They gave me an brand new (at the time) Silver '07 XLT Supercab - they said since I drove a truck they figured I would be more comfortable in a similar truck.

Well, the day before my truck was ready to be picked up, someone in the parking garage at work keyed "Bit*h" in huge all caps on the passenger door! I guess they mistook this truck for someone else. I was mad as hell and it was not even my truck.

I suggest getting a few more quotes. When my truck was keyed at an A's game, I went to a few shops that quoted ~$1300.00. Now adays these shops use some kind of "estimator" software so my quote included suggested times to remove the mirror, door handle and such then to blend the door. This software is supposedly geared to rape insurance companies so their estimated labor times are maxed, ie. 5 hours to remove the door handle, 5 hours to remove the mirror, plus enough paint to coat my entire truck, etc (probably a bit exaggerated but you get the idea).
On a tip from a buddy I found a shop that did it the old fashioned way and used common sense. Plus, I was up front with him, telling him it was coming out of pocket and not from an insurance company. They still removed my mirror and door handle but their labor and material costs were accurate. Final quote was $580.00 incl. tax. Their work was outstanding and I could not tell at all where the new paint ended and where the OEM stuff started. They are HIGH on my recommendation list.

Anyway, keep looking and I hope you get it fixed soon.

it must have been a younger kid, they typically don't appreciate the value of things and how much work it took to acquire them.
my truck costs more than my entire 15 months in Iraq...money well spent in my eyes. i figure i spent so much time overseas for this country i should invest in an American machine that i can be proud of to put the memorial decal on of the guys in my platoon who where killed.

i wonder if it would be easy to somehow rig tiny cameras to record all 4 directions of the truck to a hard drive...
my F150 was a gift to myself for my service, and deployments as well.

Where did I ever suggest waiting in a car with a knife? No, up here, I'd wait with handcuffs on my belt (assuming the bait tactic suggested previously) and arrest them for Mischief (keep in mind this is Canadian Law). It's a hybrid offence (indictable or summary) in relation to my property (the truck), so I can make a citizen's arrest without warrant. Then call the cops and deliver them with my evidence (detailed and signed witness statement).

Forget the knife, kill the guy and have him dead, or have the insurance company go after him for the deductible? I'll go for the latter.

And by the way, no I'm not a cop and never have been. I just take the time to actually learn how I can use the laws to assist my problems instead of creating more problems. I've been told there are 40,000 crimes in the USA, I'm sure you can find a few that you can make citizen's arrests for and use them to your advantage! Plus, while making an arrest, you can use as much force as is necessary to keep the situation under control. So, we can hope the person puts up a little bit of a fight.

It's a shame people would rather you keep your ride dirty, dented up and ugly looking in order to leave it alone. I've never understood why people get so jealous at others who would rather keep their vehicles clean and have some pride in what they drive. How long does the orgasm last in keying someone's car? Stupid. - Og

I'm sure Moltenice was the victim of random vandalism without motive.

Here's a 'with motive' story.
About ten years ago a co-worker and I decided to bring our bicycles to work and ride to the beach on our lunch hour.
There was no traffic on the four lane divided road.
I prefer to ride on the blacktop but, my buddy up ahead was riding in the gutter beside the curb so, I was in the gutter too.

Suddenly, 'Whoosh'! Your mind tries to process what is going on.
You shudder the handlebars, not knowing what to do as adrenilin, panic and fear course through you.

It doesn't make sense. Speed Limit 45. No traffic.
Two lanes going in your direction and you're in the gutter.
A reasonable driver would move to the left lane or at least give some safe distance with a bike ahead.

I look up in time to see my buddy 75 ft ahead and a yellow wrangler in the right lane swerve toward him and miss him by inches.
Now I realize how close it had been for me.
The jeep was topless and I could see the two guys glance at each other and kick their heads back in laughter.

My buddy stops and is going through the same 'WTF?' process I did.
I tell him it was on purpose, they were laughing and had done the same to me.
For sport they risked damaging their mirror.
For sport, they risked killing us.

We proceed to the beach and sitting in the parking lot is the yellow jeep.
The beach is packed but, the lot is empty.
My buddy made two complete passes around the Wrangler with his bike tool.

No regrets.
