They mostly all do that since you're drastically changing the suspension geometry by adding the leveling kit.

I think its fine once its on the ground, but the 2.5" level does put the ball joints at quite a bad angle.

I have the same exact issue with mine.

I have been thinking about removing the level but it does look good.

once the weight of the truck in on the ground it will get off the spring. I had the same thing happen to mine and thought I had installed them wrong. But that is just how it sits when off the ground

Ive experienced the same thing. But now im starting to hear a clunking noise when I go over speed bumps. Its cleary the control arm on the spring as its plainly visible by the mark on the spring. My 2.5" levelling kit has been in for 2 yrs now and I dont recall hearing this in the beginning.

2004f1505.4x4 - how did you make out? You hearing any clunking???

Ive got 30,000 KM's. Still on stock shocks. I suspect the shocks, but there is no evidence of leaking.

Any suggestions??

I think I replied to a thread you put up on another forum.

But I'll post it here just in case I'm wrong

check your sway bar end-links. 99% of the time, that is they noise. Pretty sure yours are loose. Tighten them up and see

btw, the coil and upper control arm only contact each other on full suspension droop (tire off ground). So if that noise you hear is the coil-arm hitting...slow down man

Thanks 2004F1505.4x4 - glad to hear yours has turned out ok.

Hey Tylus,

Ya you might be right. But my dealer says all is fine. But really, they are a bunch of jerks so who knows if they actually checked the sway bar, however, the noise is MORE noticable at slower speeds. I hear it going over a speed bump at less then 20 KPH!! Im rollin' over the speeds bumps and its more noticeable then when I go faster.

Im tellin' you, the suspension IS extending to the max and is allowing the control arm to hit the spring. The rubber coating on the spring has been squished away and damaged because of the contact. I can get some pics, but mine is just like 2004f1505.4x4's.

I'll check the sway bar, any idea how torqued they should be?

What else could it be??

I've had the 2.5" installed for a long time now. The only time it hits is when I have the tires off the ground.

So either you are hauling some serious butt and need to slow down

or

your sway bar end links are loose. no idea what the torque spec is. I just gronked mine down...and never had a problem.

but yeah, that plastic coating on the spring got squished the first time I ever jacked up the front end. Mine looks exactly like the pictures above. But you can visually see what mine hasn't had contact in a long time. The damage is old, with no recent hits

Hey Tylus,

I hear ya loud and clear. Admittedly I probably hit the speed bumps a bit faster then maybe I should have, but i have since slowed way down because of the clunking noise. But the noise is still there.

What type of shocks do you have? are they stock? Mine are still stock and maybe they need to be changed.

I personally think that the compression stroke is fine but the extension stroke is buggered. I think that the shock absorber is extending to much. In motocross lingo Id say that there was not enough rebound dampening. But of course that isnt adjustable on my F150 like it is on my bike. Perhaps the shock has been weakened by the heavier tire rim combo I have, but my dealer says that if they arent leaking then they are fine. I have a hard time believing that. Things wear out first before they fail, but what do i know, im just the owner!?!

So what prevents you shocks from extending all the way when your truck is off the jack stands?

Thanks for the reply!

I don't haul *** off-road, and I slow down for speed bumps. As far as I know, I've never intentionally had a wheel off the ground while at speed. Done some crawling with tires off the ground, but that was all 1-2 mph stuff

I still have the OEM shocks with 26,000 miles...your shocks could be the issue. especially if you have about 50,000 miles are more. Shocks don't typically just fail. They just tend to bounce more and more.

have you done a bounce test lately, or ever?
get on the rear bumper and get the whole truck rocking by jumping up and down

then stop and stay on the truck.

good shocks will stop the bounce by the 2nd bounce. bad shocks will keep on going
