Silverstar 9006 or 9145 for fog lights

Just put in some 9145's for the fogs but I see some guys are running the 9006's too. What's the word on this mod? I know of the problems with the 9005 in the 06-08 fogs but haven't really heard any reports on the 55w 9006
Silverstar. If they don't damage the fogs I might try them when the 9145's burn out.

Well, I dont see you are trying to say...If you get the 9005 in 55 w and the 9006 in 55 w. Then either way its still gonna be to hot for your foglight. Im thinking just stick with the 9145

THe only difference between a 9005 and a 9006, from a capsule (the glass portion of the halogen lamp), is one has a coated tip and the other does not.

From what I read on the packaging yesterday the 9005 is rated at 65 watts and the 9006 is at 55 watts. I know the 9005's runs to hot for the 06 + trucks with the round fogs. My question is will the drop to a 55 watt light be a good compromise between the 9145's which are rated at 45 watts and the 9005's which are at 65 watts. The last thing I want to do is burn the lenses in my fogs but a brighter fog would be nice.

been running the 9005's for about 1 1/2 years, no problems with the fog lenses!!!!! like the extra light from the 65 watts.

Ya I melted my lenses which sucks big time.. I would stick with 9145 for the round fogs because they are small and the bulb sits a little closer to the lense... Then the 9006 should be find for the rectangular fog lights... I like riding around with my fogs on for extra light output and it looks better from a distance so I can have the 9006s.

ATOM,
How often do you use your fog lights? Mine are on anytime I use the lights. Granted my trips are usually under an hour so things don't get to hot...I guess, but if I'm taking a trip that could be a problem.
