MTpint - when you put in the new regulators do you make sure the glass is back all the way??? Someone on here said something about it and after I adjusted mine it ran much smoother.

I'm thinking there must be something that is causing yours to fail so much... it just doesn't make sense that all your replacement parts are going bad.

You don't lean on your buttons while driving, do you? Like if you were pushing the UP button while driving... that might trash the regulators quicker?

anyway... sorry about your bad luck. Hopefully this one lasts awhile

If you're truck is still under warranty I'd say yes.

that depends... is your truck under warranty???

You didn't tell us your year or mileage.

If your truck is still under the full warranty, then yes it is covered.

If not, it will cost you around $130 and a few hours of your time.

I have only done one the last one all others where under warranty. I believe its the heat is killing them. My truck is black and is pretty much in the sun all day

Mine is black too. I think you're right about the heat. I purposefully don't use my windows as much because of the knows failures, and have had two so far.

You never know when it's going to fail, no warning whatsoever, at least in my cases. I got lucky with my driver's door, I actually grabbed the window before it fell in the door and was able to duct tape it up so I could still go to work with my window up. My passenger window regulator went BOOM and the window instantly fell in the door. Sounded like a gunshot.

ah... that could be... Someone (AZmidget I think?) posted that he fixed his and it was a plastic piece that had failed. The heat could weaken the plastic.

bummer

Something told me I should not have posted in this thread below. My passenger side window switch is starting to go on the fritz. The switch on the passenger side door will roll the window down but not up.....At least it's not the regular

OK, I have a new twist to add to this. I have an 05 FX4 4 door with sunroof and electric back window. ALL of the windows stopped working. ALL of them. I replaced the fuse, no go. The sunroof and the rear window still work. None of the windows will work from the driver side console or any of the individual windows at their respective switches.

Any thoughts as to where I can even begin to troubleshoot?

Hey guys, I have replaced the drivers and passengers regulators on my 2005. Ordered the parts from a dealer up in Washington...lot cheaper.. Yes the plastic supports break...but what I have found is that they put no lube on the rails where the plastic slides...too much friction...I put lubriplate grease on the rails before I finish the job. the window glides so much more freely.
the plastic did not look brittle. Note Ford has made no improvements to the regulator assembly. the replacements are identical to the failed ones.
