Don't you have scissors instead of pulleys? My 2000 mustang has the scissor kind and it is pretty reliable except they glue in instead of clamp I already had to re glue the driver's side window back in and it was a PITA considering there is no door frame

um, ya... you are in the wrong section. You have a linkage system for your window (I know that since Autozone sent me the one for the old model year). The new trucks have a cable system and it appears to be more prone to failure.

And there aren't any "big rivets" in our doors... at least not that I have noticed.

My new regulator and motor should arrive this week... I'll be installing them when I get back to the states.

Well, got my new motor & regulator installed yesterday. Installation was pretty easy. Like someone else posted - it helps to push the glass towards the back. I didn't do that at first (the window was up and I couldn't get ahold of it). But then it wasn't moving very smooth so I took it down halfway, loosened things up, slid it to the back, and then tightened it. Runs much better now.

Fast Parts Network did a pretty good job. I'd buy from them again.

3 replaced on mine so far, with the passenger front getting ready to go now. It's the only real problem I've had with the truck, and luckily I have an extended warranty.

Wow its hard top believe you have been through that many.....almost seems like there is another problem causing all of the failures. Either that or I'm just lucky. I'm a smoker and I constantly put my windows up and down several times a day with out any problems yet. Also in the winter when the window freezes shut I just keep hitting the button and until the window finally breaks free.

its pretty straight-forward... with instructions...

I bought a Haynes Manual about a year ago. It is well worth it - I think they are like 30 bucks and one use to fix an issue will pay for it.

One thing if you get the manual... they missed one of the screws on the door for their write-up. There is a screw in the armrest after you remove the switches. You need to remove it before you pull the interior panel off the door.

After pulling and pulling on the panel for a couple minutes I finally looked around enough to find that screw. Once the screw was out the panel came off really easy.

Other than that one screw, they had all the steps and fasteners well documented.

Not a fan of the Haynes manual myself - for the tasks that I've performed so far (headlight adjustment, oil & filter change, and as of tonight - window regulator replacement) I've found the manual to be lacking important information. You're much better off just coming here! I was going to have my dealer replace the window regulator, but after being quoted $380 , I decided to get things done myself. Total cost was $105 which still sucks, but now I can have 2 more regulator failures for free .

Kidding aside, for anyone that has problems with the regulators, see the two following threads:

I'm pretty much retarded when it comes to fixing things on vehicles, but with a standard socket set and other basic tools (and an extra set of hands to hold stuff) found the job to be very do-able. The only adjustment that I'd make in the second link is to attach a Vise-Grip to the door frame to keep the window glass up instead of taping the window - much easier to do.

You can also just shim the window to hold it up... thats how I did it. Just put some shims on the bottom of the window (where it goes into the door) and it stays up just fine.

I have a pair of small vise grips clamped on one of the window tracks holding the driver's side window up right now.

Good Night Man!!! That's crazy! I just got this 08. I'm a huge fan of having the windows down if it's decent outside. Hope I don't have the problems you've had. That would drive me insane!
