Body Lift / Tire Size Thoughts

current setup:

2.5 as
305/55R20 nitto tgs
20x9 mm951

i have some money saved away towards the truck. i wanna lift it, but cant justify spending more $6,000 on lift tires new rims and gears.
i dont offroad, so i am primarily going for looks, so i am considering a body lift.

i am pretty sure i could of fit 35's on my current setup now, with minimal rubbing.

so my question is, i know i could at least fit 35's easily, any chance on a skinny/ 37/12.5R20 tire or even a 36 incher?

and yes i kno i would have to regear eventually

so i guess i would just like some input/thoughts on a body lift, keep in mind just going for looks, off roading for me is doing doughnuts in a muddy field.

and thoughts on a max tire size. my rims are the 20x9 with 30mm 0f backspacing

i say go with a procomp stage 1 with a skid plate and new 35"s
sure the body lift is $300 but its around 600-900 to install. might as well put in another $200 for a suspension lift and install it yourself, its really not hard at all to do.

Nice truck! I thought about getting a body lift but I got a lot of negative feedback. Don't get me wrong they aren't all bad, lots of members have them and are very happy. If you even remotely think that might want more then the 3" I'd probably do a 6" suspension. However, if the truck is going to primarily a pavement queen and you think 3" would satisfy you, then go for that. Whatever you do keep us updated!

Edit: About the tires, I THINK you would be able to fit 35's. Several members have 35's on stock rims with just a leveling kit. It depends on the backspacing of your wheel. I don't know about 36's... If you had 36's and they rubbed bad you would be sol since you already have the leveling kit and your uca's would be maxed. When I got my 2nd set of tires they rubbed. I put on the Bilstein 5100's to give me an extra 1". With the additional height and stiffness of the new shocks I almost never rub now. You wouldn't be able to do that though.. Make sure you think out all the possibilities!

Go for the lift!! Its just my opinion but body lifts are crap...Just go all out for the lift and spare yourself the trouble of body lifts

thanks, for the complients.

its a toss up rite now, i mean if i would love to do the 6in fabtech, but the cost would be 2x as much: lift + install, gears, different off set rims and tires.
body lift i would just need new tires, and new gears down the road if i go larger than 35.

dont u have 37s on ur 6inch lift?

looks great

There's no way in hell you'll fit 37's with just a body lift.

get a lift, body lifts are the last alternative IMO. but i'm betting you'll need new rims too, these must have alot of backspace. i dont even got 3 grand stuck in my truck and running a rancho with 35's on 20's. there's always good deals, just gotta keep looking. dont you got any buddies that would give ya a hand?

I would say the bodylift. Most GM HeavyDutys and Ford SuperDutys have some bodylift factory and they last. If you can get it installed cheap as in a few friends, maybe a 4" lift would due good. The real lift will be much smoother a ride.

Just go for the body lift and 35s, esp. since you dont offroad... it will give you more hight, and will be much cheaper than any other option. When i was looking into bodylifts i was being quoted around 900 installed, so you would be done total for 2g or less

Go with the body lift. I think i got mine for 200 bucks shipped. I also installed it myself. Its more of a pain in the *** as it is hard work. I am running a 2" leveling kit and the body lift with 35x12.50x17's. I absolutely love mine. I am currently getting ready to order a 4.5" suspension lift to clear 37's. Theres no way you will ever clear 37's with that setup.
