Good call, didnt even think about the HU generating much heat. I guess when the guy did it, he only wrapped a part of the HU with the fewest holes to limit the airflow blockage.

I had it permanent-mounted to my roof by a gentleman who installs this type of equipment. You can also mount them by clipping them to the window sills as well, but I like this mount better as it will stay firmly in place, won't rub anywhere, and looks a lot cleaner. I mean, who's going to be removing their lightbar anyways? Anyone who only wants it for winter plowing and removes it for summer will buy a smaller magnetic mount version instead of a full-size lightbar..
