I have seen it on a flat pain of glass where it was hit with a baseball bat and all it did was spider web but it didnt break in. That with no key holes and a good alarm would make it pretty hard to break into.

That's the stuff I was talking about. Does very well with home windows. If I had an extra car door with window intact I'd try it. I imagine after the first or second swing without the glass shattering and the realization that this is not an ordinary window it might just make a thief walk away if the prize inside wasn't really worth the extra effort.

So in that her vehicle was never broken into shows that it works? In that case the letters on my license plate have done the same for me.

Only draw back is if you're in an accident. That "solid" window caving in on your head would ouch you pretty badly.

Factory HU

This is precisely why I left the factory HU in mine.

Sorry to hear about the misfortune though.

Maybe on the front door of your house (and then only if they think you're home), but most people who break into cars aren't going to believe you're going to hunt them down like a 12-pt buck.

Actually, around here I've seen a lot of vehicles with Glock, Marines, NRA, etc. stickers targeted because the perp realizes there's a higher probability there's a gun inside the vehicle. Same reason I wouldn't put a Pioneer, JL Audio, etc. sticker on it.

I had one on a car drove for 7 years and never had anyone break into it while my neighbors didn't have as much luck. Sure the car was a POS but it had a bass box amps and all of that jazz I am not into anymore. I do realize that sometimes the criminal might be looking for a gun if you indicate you have one, but I bet they would think twice about jacking the car with you in it!

The Neighbor lady heard that this reduced crime by reading it somewhere, I know it is a bit farfeched but I have a hunch and no data.

I really ain't a REDNECK I tell ya'

Same reason I wouldn't put these stereos in period. They say "steal me" "steal me" "rip my dash out".

In theory, yeah, but I've seen dozens of cars, particularly Honda Accords, stolen and the only thing taken out of them was the factory radio.

Guess it depends a lot on where you live and what the thieves are going to do with the equipment.

If I were to take the time to add a second battery, it wouldn't be for an alarm. It would be to run a big ol thief zapper.

Need that high pitched sound that will make you throw up within seconds... of course, the dirt bag puking in your ride would suck...

All you have to do is look on ebay and you will find out where all of the factory heads are being sold. Some of course are ligit.

Exact reason I didn't attach razor blades to the radio and system I "had" in the car, it would be satisfying to shred some thieving hands, but I don't want the task of removing their blood from all over the car/truck.

I've read that there are home alarms that have sirens that disorient, then disable (put to sleep) would be burgulars. Also, the military looked at usingd using sound waves to give enemies instant headaches and poo poo pants. Again, not wanting that clean up job or the lawsuit that most likely would come with it.
