Dealers not "dealing" as much as I would think.

...i am one of many working class americans left behind somehow in the system....i work as a paramedic attempting to save lives...what do you do? don't know and really don't care. i got a good deal but i don't have the money to go out and buy a 30k+ 4x4 truck and raise a family of three without a payment....glad you can do it...if you did.[/QUOTE]Medic, you miss my point. It was a sarcastic remark aimed at the self serving, insulting post by Anthony. He is trying to suggest that the only reason not to pay whatever the dealer wants is if you are poor or stupid.
Then he suggests that he likes paying 450 a month.
The truth is that since the two posters that want you to pay more are both dealership employees.
They make more money; have a more secure job if you pay more. Period.
But they don't post saying that.
While they acknowledge they work at dealerships, they post as if what they are saying is TRUTH, not pure self serving propaganda encouraging people to pay more, for their (the posters) own benefit.
As to my statement about not being able to afford it, well, technically it's true.
Not a smear.
Remember, if you are financing it, you really can NOT 'afford it'.
No financial advisor that has your best interest will ever suggest you pay payments for a fungible item like a car/truck unless it is a business asset.
The amount of your down payment or even five or six payments themselves will always buy a fully functional used vehicle. Frankly 3000 bucks will buy a nice pickup that will run 50k miles. 5000 bucks will buy one that will run 100k.
Often you can get them for quite a bit less.
We buy new trucks/cars because we want to, not need to.
So if you buy something just because you want to, not need to, and then borrow money that you do not have… well, that is the actual definition of 'can't afford it'.
That said, it is your life, your money, if it’s your desire to own/be seen in something that you do not have the cash to buy, it’s your business.
I have no wish for you to not drive a nice new truck/car whatever. It’s your life, and how you live it is your affair.
Again, it was a response to a self serving propaganda statement, not a criticism of how you spend your money.

I paid X-plan on my '06 and "overpaid" according to this forum. As long as you think you are getting a fair deal that's all that matters. I'm sure you can get the truck for less then I paid, but getting X-plan was a fair deal for both myself and the dealer IMO.
Plus, using X-Plan eliminates the haggling & negotiating, at least most of it. For me, that's the best part. A fair deal, and minimal frustration dealing with sales people/managers.
"A" Plan is the only way I will buy a FORD. It helps getting 5k automatically off a 40k truck plus 3k for rebates and 500 for being military. I bought 3 new fords w/ "A" plan and it saved me over 17k. So I will stick w/ FORD for my new 08' Expedition this coming fall. Now if I could keep from the tax thing...
