2005 Single cab short-bed with V-10 6.8L engine.
Hi guys, my Mark LT will be done in a few weeks. Forged engine, forged transmission, carbon-fiber drive shaft and a lot more. We are expecting around 700RWHP with a 93 octane tune.
That will be my daily driver and i don't want to wreck this truck on the race track every weekend. I just don't think it's the right truck to race frequently,(fully loaded, too heavy, too many acessories) and i can not make it lighter without loosing comfort, in another words that's my daily driver and i want all the confort possible, no weight reduction possible.
Being like that, after i finish the Lincoln, i want to build the first F-150 new body style to be on the 9's. Probably a twin-turbo like Johnny's Lightning set-up.
But my plan is to use a 2005 Single cab short-bed with a V-10 6.8L 3 Valve engine instead a V-8 5.4L. Don't tell me this is stupid, don't tell me it's very expensive, don't tell me why not use a V-8 5.4 ! That's my project and i want to do something different.
There are many threads here with all kind of opinions but one that took my attention was posted by Sal Mennella, owner of PSP Performance http://powersurgeperformance.net/about.html. This guy is considered one of the best in the country and he said that the V-10 swap can be easily done. Here is what he posted :

"You can put a V10 in a Lightning. It's not a big deal at all. There is plenty of room forward for the extra motor if you put the fans in front of the radiator. I have been wondering why nobody has done this yet myself. I'd love to build one for someone."

I would like some engine Gurus to let us know if the swap is really easy.
That sounds like fun. One concern: with the turbos and induction pipe up front like that, when you add the radiator and e-fans, will there be enough room then?
Keep us up to date on that monster!
