thats true there is a big difference between the quad cab and the reg cab.
A friend of mine has the QC version and its pretty fast but not omg fast by any stretch. Other than the engine they are still P.O.S. trucks, you can really tell. The brakes are just ok, the suspension is terrible, handling is terrible but straight line acceleration is really good. But anyways the QC SRT-10 got hammered by a guy out here with a joe gibbs silverado and i meen hammered. After a 1/4 mile it was easily a full second behind.
Its very possible that the ford won.
The SRT-10's are actually really pitiful attempts at sport trucks, they are living proof that it takes more than just a big engine.

That is from several sources that regularly test cars and trucks for speed, braking and so on, which would mean those drivers know how to get through the gears and are probably the best case scenario for these trucks.

I'm serious, go over to the SRT boards and see what these guys are doing with their trucks. I'm by no means a fan of them, I just like to keep an eye on the competition.

I have trouble comparing a F150 to a $60k truck. With enough mods they may be comparable.Unfortunately my 5.4 F150 will never beat a SRT10 unless the Dodge has a horrible driver.
It's all good I'll still put an a$$whooping on that big V10 w/my lil V6's.

And let's not play the "With enough mods" game. I could build a Honduh that would take most everything on the road, but at the end of the day, it's still a Honda. The truck I was talking about runnin 12's is a QC. Tell me how a QC goes from a 14 sec truck, as stated in this thread, to a 12 sec truck with three simple bolt ons.
I'm done with this thread. You guys have fun in the dream world you're in. Next thing you'll tell me is the new Saleen F150's are gonna spank every Lightning on the road.
Srt10
Hey what's up fellas
'Sup Cree? Good to see you.
I am not here to start anything and I am not bashing the original poster or calling BS on him. I don't usually get into these kind of threads, but there seems to be alot of misinformation about the SRT10s in this thread. So in the interest of clarity I'll see if I can shed a little light on the SRT10.
I have a Reg Cab 6 speed. When stock my truck went 13.4@104mph in full street trim on stock 22" rubber.
My current performance mods are full exhaust, generic performance pcm flash and a K&N drop in air filter. With these mods I went 13.07@108mph on stock 22" rubber.
Some trucks are hitting high 12s in stock form, but that is rare. Usually it's at a low altitude, well prepped track with very cool air. Many SRT10s are in the 12s with CAI, exhaust and tune.
As for the brakes and suspension...someone posted earlier that these trucks have great acceleration but the brakes and suspension suck. That couldn't be any farther from the truth. The brakes are absolutely stellar and probably the better than most "sports cars". They are way oversized for the size/weight of the truck. That's why the trucks come with 22" wheels. 16 and 17 inch wheels won't clear the calipers they are so big. The suspension is also very good. The truck was designed more for road racing applications than straight line racing. Weight distribution is 55/45, so it's not light in the rear end at all. It will run with Ferrari's and Corvettes on a road course and hold it's own very well. I believe some straight line race capability on these trucks was sacrificed in the interest of improving it's road racing capabilities.
I am not gonna say you didn't kill the SRT10, but as for the kill I think one of the following probably happened:
1.The guy in the SRT10 did not know how to drive or wasn't 100% committed to the race.
2. The truck was a regular Ram poser with SRT10 trim.
3. You have an awesome 12 second truck.
Which ever is true, a kill is a kill. If you caught him sleeping and put the smack on him you still scored a kill. Good job.
oh, here's a little vid of what a RC SRT10 can do. A very average driver (me, lol) against a Camaro SS at the track.

Well after seeing that video, those SRT10's look like they really fly. I also don't think our trucks could beat a camaro ss. BUt now if you have a supercharger on your truck with some other mods you would give the camaro a good run for the money. But against the SRT10, I don't think you have much of a chance. The camaro ss has a 0-60 time of under 5 seconds I think? I don't think we could get our truck to that kind of time without some serious modding.

FYI....a RC SRT-10 does not cost $60K. I could have gotten a brand new one for $48K last year during there end of the year fire sale. The local for place just sold an 05 with 1800 miles on it for $42K.

Vipertruck, thanks for logging on and giving us some real world numbers. Those mean much more to me than advertised numbers. That's a sweet looking truck you got there.
I contemplated buying a Quad Cab SRT-10, but decided on the FX4 F-150 because of the 4 wheel drive that I need up here in Alaska. After all my mods, I'm still around 5 grand under the price of a QC SRT-10, and a couple grand under the price of a stock Mark LT that I contemplated buying. I feel it was a good way to go all in all because I spent less, have more horsepower (mid 400's at the wheels), and a more unique truck. There is one quad cab and one regular cab SRT-10 rolling around the streets in my town, and I can't seem to line up with them at the lights. There's one at the dealership that I might have to get my brother to test drive though.
All in all I have to hand it to Dodge. While Ford crapped out on us in the sport truck industry, Dodge has taken their trucks to the next level.

The SRT QC's are a little more expensive than the RCs. I paid $39K for my RC brand new with 9 miles on it, straight sale, no trade in.
There is a guy on our SRT10 board who lives in Alaska. Maybe we need to get you two together for a run, sounds like you have a truck that will scoot too.
