beat a srt-10 reg cab today!!!!

i didnt think it was possible but im pleased to say that the blue oval represented today

i even told the guy before we raced that i would lose...

a guy in a reg cab srt-10 pulls up to light and starts revving his motor. light turns green and i launched at around 2000 rpms. got him by about two truck lengths through 1st gear. when i shifted to second he started to gain (my truck pukes in the low range of second). but as soon as i reached around 3500 rpms he stopped gaining! he let off at around 70. he was cool though and gave me the thumbs up when he caught up.

funny thing was i had a friend in the truck and 400 lbs of roofing material in the bed!!

i am no longer scared of dodges though as i was dead even with a neon srt-4 a cpl weeks ago. gotta love the fords

Maybe I'll ask the questions...

Are you sure it was a real SRT-10? SRT-10's having a 10-cyl 500HP engine..

I know our trucks respond well to boost.. but that just seems odd.

Educate me if I'm wrong?

oh im sure it was an srt-10. and i know that clone trucks exist, but i could tell that unique sound of the viper v-10 when he revved it up.

I know i should have lost. and thats why i rolled down the window and told the guy that he would beat me before we raced. the only thing i can think of is that this guy didnt know how to launch his truck which is quite possible... and like i said, he gained a little on me too. i know it was a faster truck.... but i still made it from point A to point B before he did

If you really beat him then nice kill. I believe he was playing with you. Even with your mods your not making anywhere near the HP and torque he is. We're talking 500 HP and over 500 ft. lbs of torque, you told him you would lose so he let you beat him. If I had paid over $50 grand for an SRT10 and got beat by a daily driver F150, I wouldn't give a thumbs up I'd be pi$$ed!

Uhh....his truck is not your average daily driver F-150 either.....it's a supercharged pickup with about 10K worth of mods.......

Not to mention that the SRT-10 is a Stick and requires the driver to apply skill, which most of the owners apparently cant. Also with 500HP I hear that thing gets Squirrely real quick.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Let me diffuse this fast before it turns ugly. I am in NO WAY attempting to disrespect Smok][n or his truck. I FULLY respect and appreciate the amount of time, effort and money he has invested. All I'm saying is it's very possible that the SRT was playing with him. Let's not forget that Smok][n had an extra 5-600 lbs in his truck, with that much weight he might as well have a stock 5.4. Even with a bad launch the SRT has a higher speed limiter, so once he ran through his gears, with a long enough run the F150 is toast. It must have been a fairly short run to take the SRT by such a wide margin.
