Does this seem right to you?

Okay so here it is, a rant thread. Does anyone else get as sick to my stomach as I do about this? I don't understand it. I bought a NEW truck so that I wouldn't have problems but my truck has had its fair share of problems. . Its almost making me want to trade it in, but hopefully Ford can just fix it and be better than new. My truck is going in on Friday at 7:30 to get ALL new 2005 brakes, pads, rotors, and brake lines. They're going to fix the driver's side wiper cowl. They still need to fix my transmission because it has about a 3 secound lag time going into reverse? I've never had any other vehicle do this and its probally why my reverse clutches went out earlier in the year. . Hopefully, they just need to replace my valve body or something easy. They still need to figure out whats going on with my motor and the damn ticking/knocking whatever you want to call it that its making. Hopefully, an easy fix. Now, I've had 4wd problems with my truck since the first few months of owning it. They've always told me they couldn't reproduce the problem. . Well, today I put it in 4H in my field and I got about 6 clunks before I stoped. I took it out of 4H, put it into 2wd, turned the truck off, restarted, neutral/brake, 4H and voila it works? I swear the damn thing only works when it wants to. . I was worried about all the clunking so I crawled underneath my truck just to take a look and found this. . Doesn't look right to me. .I'll be uploading a video/sound clip of my motor ASAP and will post the link. .

PS: Sorry about the long post. .

Heres the video/sound clip of my motor. Listen carefully, especially after you see my headlights disappear can you hear the noise.

No, it does not seem right.
I am a Ford man through and through, my wife drives an 04 Explorer, daughter and son both Ford Rangers. My previous truck was an 01 F-150.
Since we are ranting, I feel the same about my '04 F-150.
New rotors, rebuilt rear end, grease on both windows, leaky rear tail lights, bad temp sensor. And on occasion the idle will drop to the point that it will stall (4.6 engine), which they can't locate.

i dunno man, it doesn't look right, and i think i hear what you're talkin about... i'm in 4H alot up here and it seems that every 5th time or so i try to engage, i will clunk- like it misses the gear, and then slams into place- it sounds loud in the cab, so its gotta be even worse if you're outside- not sure if thats even remotely similar to what you're experiencing, hopefully they'll work it out for you

I havent had as many problems as you but the 04s are brand new model trucks. Theres going to be some problems with them. Hopefully they have been fixed in the 05s and 06s.

Thump,
Whats up w/ your brakes??? I missed a couple weeks when my daughter was born last week so i probably missed that thread.
Mine are starting to squeek when almost stopped with only 22K miles. Whats wrong with yours?

My brakes are really soft, they squeak, and they shutter when slowing down at highway speeds. So, they are replacing them with the updated calipers and rotors.

Does the dealer ever blame the brake issue or tranny issue on your lift?

Nope. They are usually pretty good about warranty work unless I get the ole' "cannot duplicate customers concern/problem."

Hope you get it all sorted our in short order. I've owned 6 new Fords since 88 and I agree with your frustration, I've had a few frustrating situations myself.
Sounds like your dealer is being reasonable and thats a good thing.
Good Luck

Norm

My brake woes

I have 15K on my 04 SuperCrew and they replaced the front rotors and front pads per the TSB at 7-8K. I just had it in for service the other day and they informed me that my rear pads are worn (2MM?) and they should be replaced. I think 15K is too soon and called the Service Manager today and he claimed that it is a "wear item" and they are not required to fix it and that he would refer it to the Ford Rep next week for them to decide. I think this stinks to say the least

Try to talk to your service manager, ask him for new rotors and just go get some ceramic pads yourself. Its not worth the hassle. Honestly, my brakes are one of the last items on my mind. Think about it, now that my rear and front end are leaking, every drive-train component on my truck has had a problem. . If they can't fix ALL of my problems, I'll be pulling out the lemon law card. .

clunk!! Yeah I have that on my 06'. However at least with mine (thats all I can speak for) all it is the t-case engagging. It happens every time im spinning in 2wd and "click" over to 4wd after letting off the go pedal, but not hitting the brakes. To me it sound/feels normal, I chalk it up to the fact that I know the t-case is locked in.

. . you're not supposed to spin and try to engage 4wd!!!
