Did you preinstall the USB drivers?

What exactly do you mean? I have used the usb cables before for other camera uses

Should the edge lightup if it is in use?

I open the lightning program and it has a blank white screen. I open the "check for updates" on the top and it says all updates are up to date. And then it says edge not connected, try again

The edge will not light up while in use. In order for the lightning software to communicate with the Evolution you must preinstall the usb drivers first. If you are running windows xp:

start menu
All programs
Edge Products
USB Drivers
Preinstall USB drivers.

Make sure you don't have the Evolution plugged in during all of this. Also make sure you turn Norton Internet security off while updating the unit.

Alrighty...did exactly what you said and still nothing?
This is what comes up and says i have the latest which is untrue
Current available software version:
Software Version: v1.02.0114

Your current software version:
Software Version: v1.02.0114

Then it says it is not connected

I guess im going to give up on it for now...i'll check back later

The current version v1.02.0114 is correct for the lightning software.
I have a feeling that when you plugged in the edge before installing the usb drivers something got screwed up.

Try using what I said earlier about installing the drivers but click on uninstall usb drivers instead.

Then preinstall the drivers again...then hook edge backup. if this doesn't work...i've got one more trick up my sleeve.

I DLed the new update and loaded the new level three tune with some custom options onto PCM. I got the same stalling and bumping whenever truck tried to shift. It ruined my morning. I loaded level three without custom tune and it runs without stalling, but it still sucks as the gear ratio and tire size are still well off.

Here's what pisses me off. Edge needs to do one of two things:

1.) Test their updates before sending them out; or

2.) Send the update out with minimal testing, but allow users to revert to the previously loaded firmware version if necessary.

Because Edge has failed to do either, I am now running around with an update that is worse than what I had. So, if anyone is listening...

Mine did same thing after I loaded the new software. Went from Firmware 13 and calibration 15a and did not have a problem. Now I go to level 2 tune with custom option, my truck stalls and bumps when it tries to shift. Had to limp it to QT and reprogramm it to stock. Custom tune was 1-2 shift -2, 2-3 shift -3, 3-4 shift -3 and speed limiter set 120mph.

Has everyone who has experienced this problem bumped the standard shifts down? Unless I missed something it looked that way.....may be helpful for Bill to diagnose the problem. Also I think it would be good to post your hex codes too, would help others the may have the same code. I downloaded the latest updates and did a custom program for level 3 and so far so good.....no shifting problems at all (hex code RXAQ3B3). I'm sure Bill will get this corrected...........it really amazes me that one guy does that much at the company. Sure hope he never gets hit by a truck or something.

I've had the problem, tried the custom again without any Std. changes, all 0's. No increase in timing, etc. Still cut out at around 1200 rpm in 1st gear. If I accelerated quickly through that rpm range, it kept on going, like the problem didn't exist. If I eased into the rpm range, it would cut out, and the two lights would come on, the engine light on the dash for just a second and the security light stayed on for a few seconds.

Well, I just tried to update and I got a no flash warning.

then it continued to upload to the EDGE. Now when I plug into the truck, all I get is a funky scribbled screen.

When I tried to reload the update, all I got was a run time error "9", and subscript out of range.

so, anyone know the key code to do a restore to the EVolution?

I knew I shouldn't have done this on a Friday night!!

In any event, if anyone is having a no start condition after updating their Evolution, give me a call as soon as possible so we can get your vehicle up and running again.

I will be in the office until at least 8:00 PM tonight and you can reach me directly at (801) 337-2162.

Please have your Evolution and your PC handy so we can get through this as quickly and easily as possible. Also, if you have a portable (or cell) phone please try to call on that so I can stay on the line until the PCM is recovered.

I know this situation has everyone frustrated, including me, and I apologize for any inconvenice that this situation may have caused. However, with a little patience we'll get this worked out.

Note: If anyone has seen other threads on this condition, could you please forward this message along. I'd hunt them down, but frankly I'd rather spend the time trying to fix the problem. I appreciate it.

Bill
