New Edge to update or not
update
Just hit the update in the lightning software....it will load a new setup. Run the new setup and it will override your current lightning software. After you install new lightning with setup hit update again to get the new firmware 14 and 16a.
I've tried everything. I have the lastest Lightning, and have removed and installed it several times. It says updates for the firmware are available, and then in comes up with "Runtime error '6': Overflow". Edge techsupport didn't answer my email today. I doubt I'll have the time to call tomorrow. Looks like I'm waiting at least until Monday to find out what I need to do. I'm sooooo pissed at myself first, and then the Edge.

It's an inanimate object. It didn't do anything.
You did.
I just updated my edge last night to firmware version 14 and calibration version 16a, and I loaded the #2 towing program up to the truck last night. I did customize the program a little, just raised the rev limiter, corrected for larger tires and raised the speed limiter. But now, as soon as the truck tries to shift into second gear while I have my foot on the gas, the truck "stalls" suddenly. When this happens, the battery and check engine light comes on, the headlights dim, and the red security light on the top of the dash comes on. This stalling spell lasts for 1-2 seconds, and then the engine rpm picks back up, all the trouble lights go out, and everything turns back to normal. If the truck still has enough speed to pull second gear, then I can continue driving with no problem, if it doesn't and stays in 1st, then the process is repeated again as soon as it tries to shift into second. Also to note: if I let off the gas before it shifts into second, there are no problems, only happens when shifting under power into second.
I reloaded the stock tune last night after having this problem, everything went back to normal, no shifting problems. I also loaded #1 trans only this morning on my way to work, and again, no problems. Seems to only happen on level 2. I also tried reloading level 2 last night thinking I got a bad load, but the problem was still there. Anyone else that has had the update experience this problem?

I had the same problem after updating to the 3-1-06 update (I loaded the 3rd tune). It seemed like it shifted from 1st to 4th gear. I went back to stock tune and reloaded the 3rd tune without changing anything with no problem. Then I loaded the 3rd tune again with the changes with no problems. Call edge if you still have problems, I would not email them.

I'll try this this morning. I re-updated my Evo last night and will load one of the performance tunes, with no custom settings first. Then I'll go back and try including the custom settings. I hope this works! Thanks for the tip!
FYI, I had talked to one of the guys at Edge yesterday about this, so if this process works, I'll report back to them.
I updated last night and changed some shifting points and timing and didn't have any problems....or at least none that I noticed during the 7 mile drive to work this morning.
hey guys, just wondering when you have a problem if you could also put down the hex code and year of truck etc....this would help others in case it is just within certian yrs and codes......just a thought......and make sure you let us know of the fixes.....thanks.

My hex code is RXCM4DZ.hex 5.4L 2005 built in April.
I loaded the 3rd tune with the timing set at +1 and the std shift point changed 1-2 at -2 and 3-4 at +10 when I had the problem.

I tried Silverfish's recommendation and it didn't work for me. After loading the "non-custom" performance tune, I started the truck, let it run for a few, but didn't drive it. Reprogrammed with my custom settings, and I still had the engine cutout. So I went back to level 3 non-custom to get to work. I'll be calling tech support soon and give them the scoop. I'm glad it's working for some of you guys!
