So is this done by going into utilities and clicking on READ STOCK CALABRATION while the unit is plug into computer?

Question Question

Okay, I apologize if this has already been answered, but my Edge should be arriving tomorrow and I want to make sure I start off on the right tire (er..foot).

Ideally, should one hook the Edge unit up to a PC and download all the updates and THEN hook it to the vehicle for the first time?

Or should you hook it to the vehicle, THEN go get the updates?

You have to return it to stock before doing any updates anyways so you may as well do the updates first. If you want to make sure it's working though you can always try it out.
I guess my answer is it doesn't make a difference, just remember to return it to stock before you do the updates.

That certainly answers my question.

Thanks!

Yep. It will save the stock.bin and vid.bin files in the data file of the Evolution Lightning program.

When you open the lightning software, what version does it say you have at the top. Mine says v1.01.000, is this the latest?

I just tried downloading the update from the edge site, but when you click download, it just says page cannot be displayed?

Ordered the Edge today and I've been reading posts left n right. I'm a software tester and I've seen my share of prototypes get fried during firmware flashes. Maybe this question will be apparent when I actually get the unit and software, but figured I'd ask anyhow. I've read the unit saves the PCM code that is currently on the truck so you can restore it if needed. My question is: is there a way to save that to disk on the PC for extra safety sake? This paranoia is probably due to all the backups if systems and settings I need to do daily just in case something bursts into flames in the lab.

Yes, just use the "read stock calibration" option on your lightning software.

I think they did. All I know is that after I resolved my problem with Edge, I asked why this happened. I was told that the files going out to customers were possibly becoming corrupted due to a firewall issue. I'm sure they pulled the updates until they get it resolved. So, the actual updates are good, but they've pulled them until they can get the firewall issue fixed. I'd give them a little time to resolve that, then we should be good to go.

How many of you out there have done the update and are having no problems with level 3?

Thanks
Well, I went out this morning and found the exact same thing. 0 (stock tune) in the upper right hand corner, even though I had loaded level 3.
And it still gave me the option to return to stock, which will only be there if you have loaded a tune, and I know that the level 3 tune is loaded.

After seeing the issue you guys are having, I wanted to see for myself. I too have the "update". Went outside customed tuned a level 3 and everything worked fine. Little 3 is showing up like it is suppose to. I'd just try it again.
I called edge this morning about a question I had unrelated, and spoke with a manager (nice guy). He told me that the update is good to go as far as they know, so if there are issues I'd call them. He said they did NOT take it off or make it unaccessable, its just that they put a new firewall in there server and there computer guy didn't realize that customers could not get to it.

Damn Network people ...

/vent
I'm so fed up with people calling me in the middle of the night telling me how my network is down because one god damn server can't connect to some application in XXXXX. Seriously folks wake up and smell the coffee I told you last week when you called we route blocks of address and not individual ones so stop calling until every damn device stops working. I spent from 2am to almost 5 yesterday morning trying to explain to some dumbass windows server guy that his subnet mask was wrong. He was so sure he was right he would check the damn subnet until I requested our helpdesk to get his manager on the call at 4:30am. Well guess what I was right the dumbass had the wrong subnet and his boss told him nicely that he was a moron for not checking after being asked.

ok ok I feel better not that I haven't already talked with about 10 idiots today about pc/server problems. Seriously the unix folks are about 10000% smarter here than the windows guys. I think we hire stupid people just for laughs sometimes.

I don't know if they have things working? I was one that was able to do the update...and just to see if they had changed anything I checked for updates. It says I am up to date, but the available versions (Lightning & Edge) were older than mine. I don't think they have the new updates back up and available yet.

FYI

Just got off the phone with Edge tech support. He told me they pulled the updates to fix a problem with the calibration download. Some downloads would get interupted and cause a "no-start" condition. He claims that the people who successfully downloaded the update should be good to go, but if they want they can run another update. He said that a new update should be available in the next couple hours.

P.S. I mentioned that several of you had posted an issue with level 3 and the display reverting back to "0" in the corner. He said he had not heard anything.

The second update is now available.

When the Edge shows program 0 and you know you have program 3, just go into programs and go to the settings you know it is set like 3 and go into program 3 and do a custom tune then at the bottom it says restore to previous settings after you do that the 3 will be back in the cornor like it should be.
