If you know how to manually install the drivers in your harddrive using your control panel or my computer or something like that do it. I had to call edge and they told me they are having trouble with some computers not automatically install ALL the drivers. They talked me through it, but I don't remember how to do it now. They walked me into the driver folder and found the "lightning" software and after I told him what was there, he said they all didn't install, so I had to click on them and install them. Sorry I couldn't be more specific, but hope this helps.

Help

Help! I read about the update at work, so before I left there, I returned my truck to stock. I drove home, took my Evolution inside and hooked it to my computer, opened the Lightning program and clicked "check for updates." It told me I had updates, which I did, as well as the new calibrations. Took my unit back out to my truck. At this point, just as I plugged it in, with the key on, an alert of some sort started flashing. That had not happened before. So, I reset my display to my previous color and proceeded to go to level 3 program and customize, just like I had done previously, except I set the instant MPG on my display and programmed the RPM idle up a bit.

It told me to turn off my key, turn it back on and it went through the build and then pcm program, just like it's always done. When it ended however, usually the wrench on the dash will go out and there's a slight "clunk." This time however, it did not do that. I turned off the key, and turned it back on to start up the engine, NOTHING. Dead. So I thought I'd return it to stock and try again. When I tried to return it to stock, it told me that my unit was used on another vehicle and that I should contact Edge.

Well, Edge is closed (I called them). I have a dead truck, which means tomorrow morning, I'm not getting to work on time. I had saved the stock.bin in my data file, but I can't seem to get it reloaded with the Lightning software. Anyone have any ideas?! What did I do wrong?

I see that many of you have updated your Evolution without any problems, but I'm between a rock and a hard place here. Does anyone know how to get my stock file back into my unit, so it will recognize it on my truck?

There seems to be an occasional problem when trying to go to level 3. the first time I did it, the same thing happened to me. I kept the key on, unplugged the unit for about 30 sec, plugged it back in, and it worked. The bad thing was I was stuck at the gas pump after filling up with 91 octane. scared the hell out of me.

My problem is that it seems my stock program no longer is in my Evolution. I can't even return it to stock, to start over again. I do have the stock program saved in my Lightning software, but I don't know how to reload back onto my Evolution. If I hook it up to my truck, it doesn't even recognize it as my stock program or anything. It thinks that I'm trying to use it on another truck.

When I attempt to return it to stock it says, "This programmer is locked to another vehicle. Please return vehicle to stock before programming." So my stock program has been lost off the tuner, after the online update. I'm stumped. Anyone?

broncoski,

I believe the stock idle is 600 RPM. Try 600 RPM and see if it smooths out.

I'd try it again, and just make sure you turn on the key, then plug in the unit, and at each step, give it 15 or 20 sec to read the pcm. Try just loading level 1.

It only allows you to adjust it from a default of 0. So I first set mine to 100 and it was just barely there, so I moved it up to 125 and it went away.

I get the reset (clunk) but I don't remember the wrench changing.. I just turn the key off as requested..

Keep us posted. I'll will wait just in case there is a known problem or I will wait for a time to update so I can call directly into edge..

Jack

If all else fails try disconnecting the battery to reset the computer.

Did you return it back to stock prior to removing the unit from your truck?

I'm going to try this, since I've tried everything else. I'll let you know. Thanks.

Disconnecting the negative terminal on my battery didn't help. I still have the wrench illuminated and no start, nothing. I even tried to retrieve DTC codes with the programmer, but it just sits there. I tried loading the level 1 tune and it gave me the same message when I try and return it to stock, "This programmer is locked to another vehicle. Please return original vehicle to stock before programming." Everything worked so well before this update. I'm screwed at this point.

Yes, I had returned it to stock before leaving work, got home with no problem.
