Aftermarket projector headlights and HIDs

Can anyone give me an answer as to why the manufacturer of any aftermarket projector headlights tell you not to use HIDs in their lights.
Somebody finally designed a set of projector headlights for our truck without the row of leds in the bottom, look cleanerIMO. I would like to put some nice HIDs in these but I guess I am afraid to have the front end of my truck burn off or something similiar.

Those are nice projectors....

You can install the HID's in there but the lighting will be below par for HID's. U need to convert the projectors to a set of HID ones to take full advantage of this lighting..

IDK man....these are lookin pretty good! They are very clean, not too overdone I don't think, and almost close to stock looking. They also don't have that amber reflector....should really clean up the look of the front of the truck! I'll have pics in about a week of them on and you can decide from there. I bet the HID conversion bulbs are longer and will interfere with the reflector inside.....

Noticed these on ebay myself about a week ago too. Im just waiting for one of you mod-crazies (cough FX4 cough ) to buy them and post pics. Ill probably plunk down for these. Those little leds on the other ones looked tacky IMHO.

I wonder when can we expect a black version. That would look sick.

It's because the projector inside was not designed for HID, it was designed for halogen. That projector with a HID bulb inside would not be able to handle the amount of light HID would give off and the light output would not be up to the full potential of HID.

You could get these headlights and replace the projector inside with an HID projector of identical size and then put OEM HIDs in there. By that I mean buy off ebay or where ever, HID ballasts and HID bulbs that came from cars that were built for HID. Don't do kits, the ballasts burn out in a year.

I actually bought the projectors with the row of LEDs on the bottom a couple weeks ago.. and then they come out with these. I dont mind the LEDs on the bottom though. I have a set of hids in them as well and they look great.. the manufacturer might be JDM? And if someone already said this then I am sorry for repeating.. I just didnt want to read all posts. I believe the ones with LEDs are by JDM and these ones look similar to mine.. So my guess would be JDM. I might have to look into buying a set of HID projectors and swap them out. But I think mine look good for now.. I have been planning on taking pics but I keep forgetting.. I will soon though..

Actually HID bulbs dont interfere with anything inside the housing.. THey fit nicely.. Most likely those projectors will take H3 bulbs and H3 HIDS are not as long so they fit great. The ones with the LEDs take H3's for projectors and H1 for the other headlight.. I had to reverse the wiring in mine.. THe projectors will be wired for High beam and the one next to it will be wired for low beam. So I just had to switch the wiring so that I can use the projector with low beam...

Can we see pics of your projectors installed? Also, what do those bottom row of LED's do for you, do they increase the amount of light at all, are they even visible with the HID's in your face? I like both of the headlights, but I think I actually prefer the row of LED's.

well from a distance, the LED I would think would not be visible at night because of the HIDs. When I drive during the day I turn on my parking lights and fog lights as my Daytime running lights. So basically they are on for looks during the day... I will have to check out the LEDs at night. I will take some pictures today.

Thanks for all the answers fellas. That is kinda what i had figured but decided to ask some of the more experienced HID users.
As far as them coming in black, I am betting that is just a matter of time. Seems like every light ends up being offered in chrome and black. I am planning on grabbing a set of these and painting the inside of the housing white, to flow with rest of the truck. Any opinions on that would be welcome as well.

Thanks man. I was going to sell it over the summer after my good friend had a bad crash on his RC51. But I am going to keep it now and take it to the race track.
