While I don't 'use' my truck often, there are not many other products on the market that I fit into. I got my truck out of a different need. Soooo... all you short bastards driving trucks you don't need, check out that sweet ride Chris posted!

I have an 'o4 SCAB, after a while I find I just set myself up to avoid the parking lot suicide sandwich, it becomes second nature after a while. Often park a little further out anyway to avoid dings, don't mind the exercise, can't say I don't need it. When I do get sandwiched by a couple big SUV's, I notice the suicide door opens all the way where the big door doesn't.

Was originally looking for a reg cab but went with the SCAB instead. Never regretted it once. An SCAB with a 6.5' box is 18.5 inches longer than a similar reg cab. Mama was terrified of driving the thing initially, but now I can't get her out of it.

One thing I've wondered - it looks like there is enough room to mount a stout small van-style aft sliding door (where the hinged suicide door is) without interfering with bed cargo. I haul brush and furniture all the time and really don't recall overhang that would be a problem...

pros: alleviates parking lot door problem
cons: could decapitate "Spot"

(...And that new Honda bed trunk rocks).

-Just a thought,
Ron

Oh, man...I LOVE the SMART FORTWO! That's a great ride...I'd get the Brabus model with the optional 74 HP engine...wow! I guess I'll just have to get a Mini Cooper...

CycloneVampire you are very wrong about the S/Cab. I've had three adults in the back, one in front, and a kid in the middle section up front. All said the ride was very comfortable. As far as the 6.5 bed, well I had a Ranger previously thus it is an enormous improvement. I do a lot of hauling. And if I really wanted to I could add a bed extender. Thus far no need. Love the S/Cab but to each his own.

The 3 adults in the back and the kid lied to you so you wouldn't feel bad

Nonsense, the Japanese are very honorable people, and I am sure that they felt most comfortable.

Sorry Toreadox, couldn't resist.

My first thought was "Faith and Begora, the little people wouldn't lie tu me, about that".

I had an 04 Scab for about 4 months. I absolutely hated the suicide doors. Getting folks in and out of the back seat in a crowded parking lot (they are always crowded in Atlanta) was a royal PITA.

To make a long story short, I traded her in on an 05 Screw and could not be happier.

Do you have a picture of your truck, from the side? Just curious, never seen one like that. I wish I could have a 5.5 on my reg cab, just to make a super short sport truck.
Chris
I will try to get a shot of it tonight.

Damn, I thought I'd never get to post my 2 cents. As if many people actually made it to reading this far into the thread.

I bought my 02 screw in may, trading in a 98 dakota xcab (THANK GOD!!! No, she was pretty but what a b**ch to fix... all the time!) Anyway, I wanted a scab but this just fell in my lap. I'm so happy it did. The extra inside space is more useful than I ever thought it'd be. I just bought a bed extender and I have as much bed as anyone else (I've never had much use for a 8' bed myself). I haul a boat fairly often during the summer, and the bed comes in really handy when I have game, fish, gear, wood, etc I don't want inside. Sometimes we don't even know what we need till we got it.

Oh yeah, and I used it to tow my best friends Z-71 home after it broke down this weekend. HA!!! CHEVY SUCKS.

Good question - I'd like to see that too.....didn't even know you could get that combo!

You can get the XLT SCAB with either 5.5, 6.5 or 8 foot beds!
go to www.forddirect.com and build one!

Also the rear seats in the SCABS and SCREWS are very, very, very close. The only difference I know about is minor shaping of the cushion (you probably cant see it with the eye).
