Screws are nice if you don't have a family car. I have a scab then a 4 door sedan for the family. My wife drives the SUV

 

Just people arguing now on what they use their truck for...

"Ohh, I haul gravel and 2x4s in mine. I need the 8' bed."

"But I need to haul 4 people, two a boat, and put two big ice chests in the bed. And I can also move furniture with my truck too."

"But the 5.5 bed is too short and I get the same amount of room in the back of my Scab. It's the best setup!"

You know, Get the truck that fits your lifestyle the best.

I had a Scab and now I have a reg cab truck. I looked at the scabs but I have to get into tight parking spots and they're just too long. I also never used the back of my truck. It would end up carrying a passenger once ever 3 months for a short trip to the store or something but nothing more. Now I got my reg cab and the new room ford has added in the back it fits what I use to use the scab for.

 

a SCrew is a SporTrac on steroids, or SUV's with a lil' tub in the back, the only true truck is a RegCab or a SupCab!! Where were Screw's in the 50's Did I start any S&*T yet?

SCABS can't haul cargo as well as an 8 footer or people as well as a SCREW.

Plus the frickin doors are on backwards I mean come one....

It can't do anything right.

 

I may have gotten a reg or scab if it wasn't for the horrid ISRS (In-Seat-Restraint-System). Worst setup ever. They give you all that head and shoulder room, then place the belt below your shoulder... WTF?!!! Why not just chop the top and really screw us tall folks!? %*#@(@#(!!

 

what about those that haul weight, not volume? The 5.5 is more than enough in those situations.

 

I have the biggest bastard step-child of them all, a SCAB with the 5.5ft bed. It does exactly what I want it to do. It pulls race car and trailer just fine, fits in my garage and parking garages with ease, with the ARE tonneau has a secure storage area that I can haul race fuel or greasy parts without risk to the interior or myself, hauls the dog or random third or fourth passenger comfortably and was relatively inexpensive compared to a Screw to purchase.

It is very rare if I need dirt or bark, only one or two yards is needed. Usually it is 5-8 yards and I pay the $25 to have it delivered in one load; good insurance from inept bobcat operators in my opinion. The last move we did was with swb GMC and it did the job. I doubt the extra 6" of bed length will make a difference and I have very few items that would be longer than the bed with the tailgate down.

If there was only one correct answer, Ford would only build one truck and it probably would not be a F150, but a SuperDuty. Just be thankful that for the most part Ford lets each of us have what we want!

to each his own.... my mom got an 05 250 KR 'just because I like the grill" the most it's towed in the past 8 months since purchase, and 13,000 miles- nothing. the most thats been in the 6-3/4' bed, 4 sets of golf clubs, a cooler and a couple suitcases and occasionaly the dog...

Do you have a picture of your truck, from the side? Just curious, never seen one like that. I wish I could have a 5.5 on my reg cab, just to make a super short sport truck.
