Why the F150?

That is a good question. It would be interesting to see what the other manufacturers would come up with.

potentially the same video. Notice how Ford only compares to 1 or 2 models in each segment?
They compared the front structure to Nissan and Chev... but not eh others. They compared the rear end to Toyota and Nissan, etc
So basically, in all areas of the truck design, they are better than 2 of the 5 full size models in the market (1/2 ton)
So is it a good truck? You betcha. Would I buy another? You betcha. Do I believe the "Truth about Trucks"? About 50-60% of it.

Well then, what 40% or 50% is lies in your opinion.

I don't think they were lying as much as they left out some of the facts... ie comparing tow hooks with the Nissan and Toyota but not comparing to the Dodge (could have been even more rugged than the Ford, but we don't know because they didn't show all competitors in each segment)
I think this truck is extremely solid... moreso than the other 4, but the "Truth About Trucks" was an excellent marketing piece... even if a little skewed.

Chevy, Dodge etc. were in the comparison mix and Ford did better. The Ford commercial made valid points that are crucial to the build quality of trucks. If GM, Dodge, Nissan, Toyota whoever has valid comparisons about build quality, I would like to see that too. Obviously it’s about marketing and Ford holds the trump cards on quality built trucks.

Its kind of like saying Ford has better resell value than Dodge, but not mentioning Chevy has better than both. Or like saying Ford has more HP than Chevy, but not mentioning that Dodge has more than both. Someone that didn't know better would hear that and think Ford has the highest resell value and the most HP when in fact it had neither....it's a very common marketing tool.
But you can take the commercial as the word of God if you want...I mean we all know from all your posts about your "100% perfect" F150 (
) that your not biased!!!

The commercial compared Ford strengths with the weaker of the other trucks in each section. Its called MARKETING BIAS. (I have a Master's Degree in marketing so I do know a little about what I am talking about!)

You can disbelieve it, The Truth About Trucks and twist it any way you want, that’s your prerogative, but the bottom line is Fords are built stronger than all the competition. If you carefully watch the commercial that’s what it points out. d'oh!

And oh, bigger oil filter = possibly dirty running engine so it needs a better filter. That really is bogus. Fan shroud, umm doesn't tell jack. How much CFM does the fans produce is the real question. I can go on and on, but a lot of that the truth about trucks is BS. If you can't see it, go back to school.

The Truth About Trucks pretty much sums up the meat and potatoes of the decision. I drove the Hemi Ram and the Titan, but neither of them had the solid, glued together feel of the F-150. IMHO the F-150 is the best looking most composed driving truck out there right now.
Not to mention it's the most truck you can get for them money when you figure you'd be paying $5-6k more for a comparably equipped Dodge, Nissan or GM.
