Why the F150?
I chose the F150 because I finally got old enough to realize that my Dad was right. Ford is the best out there.
In '02 I had a Chevy that was 10 months old and had been in the shop way too much. I visited my Dad and he had a new '02 F150. I drove it and when I got home traded the Chevy for my '02 F150. When I saw the '04 I knew it was even better and I have not regretted the upgrade, plus I get x-plan.

this is the same company that had, what? 53 different cab/body configuartions when they launched the SuperDuty in 99.
The company that launched a 1/2ton crewcab with a smaller bed so it could still navigate mall parking lots.
The other companies need to play catch-up with this kind of flexibility.
Wifes money, wifes choice.
She liked the look, actually like the look of the previous model.
I was trying to steer her towards a GMC, I have always had good luck with them, just like Ford. I don't belive in brand wars, either.
I liked the GMC 3/4 ton crew cab short box, but I didn't really want another 3/4 ton. I liked the 6L engine though. The 1/2 ton GMC crew wasn't out yet, but I knew from their previous trucks, the 1/2 ton 4x4 sit way to low. Other than that I liked it.
I would have been happy either way. I like the F150, but I wish they would have spent some more time squeezing some more MPG out of it. Ford seems to lack in that area.
Dodge, out of the question, MPG too low, and have had a few issues with them in the past.
Toyota, too small, not a real full size truck in my opinion. Also, I like supporting the local folks. Didn't like the rounded off looks, felt underpowerd. Didn't like the interior. A pillar is way to close.
Nissan, I've heard some nice things about the engine and tranny combo, but that has been about it. Everything else was negative. Didn't like the styling. They were trying way to hard on the design of the exterior and interior. Looks like it was designed by a committee. A pillar could hide an elephant. Too many "dorky" features. Don't like the advertising campaign. Way to pushy, way to loud, way to c0cky for a new player. Felt like they needed to be slapped down.

hey I think all of these apply to the lame-a$$ Contour
I dont really know.
It may be the fact that my grandfather has had a F-series since 1951 (I wish he still had the 51
) and that I was raised in a Ford household
May be the fact that I got the X-plan on the truck.
May be the fact that my company got a 04 long before I got one and I really enjoyed driving the company one.
Or it might just be that after driving many many trucks this one was better then all of them for my needs.
