Hit a deer tonight, thank god I drive a ford!

So tonight I was rolling down the interstate to go stay with my girlfriend for the rest of the weekend, ended up being a lot more of a "interesting" drive than i thought. I was going down 64 for any of you guys local to the virginia area headed towards UVA. Speed limits 70 and I was doing about 75 according to my gps (only form of speedometer I have due to tire size), a deer came up over the shoulder probably no more than 20 yards in front of me and with a guardrail on one side and traffic on the other I had no choice but to lock up the breaks and hope for the best. Well long story short the deer didn't up moving and I probably smacked it at about 60ish (maybe more). I finally get to a point where I can pull off to check the truck and at this point I'm thinking the worst for the front end.

Get out look at the front end and as far as I can tell there's actually no body damage at all, it chipped a little paint of my bumper but nothing some spray paint can't fix. The only real damage I can tell so far before I can check it in the light is my alignments out now. I checked over best I could tonight and as far as I can tell all the tie rods, pitman arm, and idler arm all still look solid so I'm thinking it just shifted something out of place but I really won't be able to tell anything until tomorrow and then finally once I get it in a shop to have it looked at.

But thankfully the state trooper that showed up helped lighten the mood a whole lot. Of course when he showed up he checked to make sure I was okay, and then proceeded to stay that I had royally wrecked that deer ha. We talked about trucks for a few minutes, and before sending me on my way he mentioned that thankfully I drove a quality built ford, a week ago he said he saw a newish Chevy 1500 that looked like it might be totaled from hitting a deer on the highway.

Well enough of my rant for tonight, I'd just thought I'd tell my story haha.

Like a boss!!! Haha well deer seem to stand no chance verse our trucks. Last year my dad managed to hit two deer in the same week (both around 35mph) and the only thing that got damaged was the driver's side headlight. That state trooper seemed pretty cool too, wish the ones in California were as nice. I'd probably get reported to PETA if I destroyed a deer like you did lol.

A guy at work hit a deer in a brand new chevy 1500 and totaled it. It was maybe 6 months old. Destroyed it!

So did you pray one night and god bought you an F-150 and parked it in your driveway or what?

I nailed a deer doing 55 once. It put a crack in my stock corner light and cracked the grille surround. The deer went over the hood, up the windshield, over the roof, and caddy-corner off the bed of the truck and onto the ground.

And since we're bashing Chevy's- I responded to an accident a year ago, it came thorough as vehicle versus deer. We get there and the front end of this 2006 Chevy is DEMOLISHED. The two occupants decided to go to the hospital to get checked out so we backboarded them, C-collar, etc, etc (procedure). But it was pretty bad. They were an older couple, and I doubt they were going any faster than 55.

Unfortunately no pics of the deer, it was a pretty fat doe though. But all that was left by the time I stopped was about a 1 foot section of the deer on the road not sure where the rest went haha. I'll take some pics if I find anything wrong with the truck today when I go check it.
