heres my 4.2

And here's my 4.6

I have a harley too but blah blah, but still I know my 4.6 would have the 4.2 no doubt

my 4.6 beat many 5.4's, but they can do the same bolt ons I had, a smoke me.

I have to laugh, that second vid where you could hear the V6, sounded like one of those little rubber band planes I had when I was a kid. Use to crank those things around until they knotted up real good, then throw it at my sister or whom ever was in range.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, the sound forced me to reflect a bit

Thanks, - It's a strong runner, -it will keep up with a stock 3 valve. It won't with a tuned one tho. Seems as tho a better tune makes a big difference with the newer engines, -the 3 valves anyway.

It didn't sound bad either - http://picasaweb.google.com/jbrew393...40433327124514 I put a larger Magnaflow on her since, it's quieter, but the idea was to get any lost torque back after installing the headers. I really couldn't tell the difference. I did run a Flowmaster 50 race series for awhile, - that slowed it down quite a bit. That was to bad, it sounded better with the Flowmaster, -like the old 5.0 GT's.

Its a simple equation. Hp/TQ to weight ratio. Ill take any stock f150 from 0-60 on my 28hp dirt bike... cause it only weights 205lbs. A single cab 2wd 4.2L with a few mods will probably keep up with a SC 4x4 5.4L. May not win but he wont get blown away. I guess if you want to look at it that way, I'll go hunt down some dump trucks and see what they got.

Also late 80's early 90's firebirds are WEAK! there is no wayyyy on gods green earth it gerts to 60 in 7 seconds! 175 hp in a 4000 lb car. Go to track times and see what comes up...
really it depends on the configuration. i think an ext cab 4x4 would be close but screws are able to be beaten. and no i havent done it yet. looking forward to racing one but not really expecting to win with my 4.2L.

and about the 305 and 7 seconds to 60, i said that before i realized it was the weaker 305. the weaker one is 175hp and 2.73 rearend and also an auto. so that would be about 8.5-9 to 60mph. the better 305 is i think 225hp and thats the one that would do the 6.5-7 0-60. the ones with the 350s were in the 6-6.5 range. i saw a time of 5.8 but i think thats a little overkill. i just know my 96 trans am with an auto was under-rated by GM at 285hp and that i clocked it with a stopwatch at 5.65seconds to 60 with cooper cobra tires(pretty sticky) and about 60k on the clock. the LT1 has been known to dyno at just over 300hp at the crank so its probably around 300 or so actually. trust me. if i tell you pretty much anything about an f-body, its either right or pretty damn close to being right. and if i dont know, i will say i dont know and look it up. firebirds are my favorite cars and i have owned 2 of them(one 89 2.8L V6 firebird and a 96 trans am) and i have done a lot of reading about just about every year from 82+. the older ones i know some but the 82-02 is more of my specialty.

some of you guys are thinking with your butts. the 5.4 in hte video clearly has a grill guard on it so it would most likely be a 4x4. a 4.2 is a good match for a 5.4 4x4 if it is anything other than a reg cab shortbed, and probably would be a close loss to a 2wd screw but any otehr 2wd 5.4 would most likely beat a 4.2L. i think some of you guys know what is going on and are just trying to throw stupid stuff on this post. he never said he would beat evry 5.4. he said he beat that one. i have raced a bunch of V8 trucks with mine and only 1 beat me, but they were all 4x4s except the one that beat me. and 2 of them were 08 silverados with a 5.3L in them. i work with both of them and they told me the next day that they WERE trying. my buddy's 4.8L 04 silverado 2wd reg cab shortbed auto is the only one that has beat me so far. off the line i will admit he smokes me. but from a 40mph roll we raced 3 times. i beat him twice and his win was by about a half a car. all races went to around 80mph. but i am also not saying that no V8 can beat me. just saying that only 1 has so far. and i have timeslips in my profile pics. i ran 4 times, 2 different days. my best was a 16.9378@81.66mph on an "ok" launch. my only mod is a K&N intake. there is a video of it on youtube but it doesnt show the times. and the timeslips, i wrote on them to tell what the other vehicles were but i messed up the one that i ran the 16.9378. i switched the ram and my truck. but you can tell im not BSing because you can look at the car # at the top and its the same as my other one.

well the speedo, when stock, should be about 1-3mph higher than you are actually going. when mine said 35 the radar said 34 but when mine says 65, the radar says 63. and i have not changed anything on mine. also if you have an 04 NBS+ you can do your digital speedometer(do the diagnostic type trick with the trip button). there will be speedM(metric-KPH) and speedE(english-MPH). mine read about 2mph below what my needle read. tach is pretty much right on tho. but the 03 style i dont think has the speed reading to help with blue ovals speedo problem.
also here are my timeslips. both on same day but like i said, the 2nd one is switched. i wrote my truck on the wrong side. I am #59 and i had the right lane during my race with the ram. he won because of my reaction time(like i said, ok launch) but i had a better time and was going faster. i will post the video too. and in the video, both chirps are my truck. 1st one you should hear easily, the 2nd is at the 31 second mark. that is shifting into 3rd at about 55mph by the way...4.2Ls have more than you think...

As I said, some body style, same interior, same drivetrain, only difference being engine, and the 4.2 had a glasspack. 0 to 60 was anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 second SLOWER in the 4.2 versus the 5.4, on a G-Tech Vehicle Analyzer.

Nothing further, Your Honor. Proving our case, the defense rests.
