He is wayyyy slower than that. 2.73 gears kill him. Off the line he is fast as hell, then second gear is like hitting a brick wall.

The FireBird. You just assume ****. You dont know the condition/miles or gears. Great condition/180k/ 2.73 gears it runs in the low 9's high 8's.
if its running high 8s and low 9s to 60 then it is a POS. that car should be doing it in about 7 and with that many miles maybe around 7.5 if its in good shape. he could skip a gear and get 9.

ok, well you might be right. the 2.73 rearend was only offered with a 175hp 305 with an auto. that might be enough to make it low 9s with that many miles on it. that is the only type you would have a chance at. the other 305 is 225hp and comes with 3.23 gears. so it might actually be a good race. but thats still a race against a crappy firebird. i love firebirds but a 305 in there takes the "muscle" out of muscle car. 305ci is like ANY stock mustang GT, slow as *****

First you said you went from 20-70 right? so why at the start, and end of the vid you are doing 40?! if you hit the brakes that hard the camera would have smashed the steering wheel! Ill be driving my 5.4 to Florida early June. Ill leave the 35's on and see what happens... with 3.55's!

Im with jbrew on this one. Unless your 4.2 is blown or has some serious mods (which it doesn't) it aint keeping up with a 5.4 running on all 8 cylinders.

Also late 80's early 90's firebirds are WEAK! there is no wayyyy on gods green earth it gerts to 60 in 7 seconds! 175 hp in a 4000 lb car. Go to track times and see what comes up...

This makes me laugh... At least the 4.6 vs 5.4 race looked like a race, and not a Sunday drive!

I was doing 55 my speedo is 10 MPH fast. Got to fix it, drives me insane. I hit the brakes sorta hard, didnt really see the car till last second as you can see I cut my buddy off in the end.

I race you no problem. I think you may be in for a surprise. Not saying im going to beat you, maybe just be a little more peppy then you think.

Its not blown, just mods in sig.

My point adactly 175 HP and 2.73 gears anit going anywhere. I have been to the track, my official 0-60 time was 8.47 and ET: was 16.23. Not the most accurate place (+, - .10), but my buddys dad owns a sick *** set up on his property that we can run quater miles times with the same thing they use at public tracks.

Im sorry but you really need to learn how to do math. There is a 3.9% difference between a 245/75-16 (guessing in the stock tire size) and 265/75-16. So at 40 mph your speedo would be 1.56 mph off, not 15 mph... Me going from a 265/70-17 to a 315/75-16 didn't even throw my speedo that much!

But you still were doing 40 at the beginning and 40 at the end...

Having owned all 3 different engines in the same basic vehicle configuration (regular cab, short bed, 2WD), I can tell you this: My 5.4 in basically stock configuration would beat my 4.2 EVERYDAY, and TWICE on Sunday just to rub it in.

My 4.2 was in a 2001 with the XLT package, 4R70W, 3.55 gears, and stock tires. Mods were a Flex-lite 270 E-fan, Gotts mod, and Magnaflow 14616 muffler.

My 5.4 is in a 2003 STX with the XLT interior, 4R70W, 3.55 gears, and stock tires (for now). Only mods so far are a Flex-a-lite 270 E-fan and Gott's mod (no exhaust yet). My 5.4 is EASILY 1/2 to 3/4 second quicker 0-60 on my G-Tech vehicle performance meter.

I have YET to do anything fancy in the tuning, intake, or exhaust on the 5.4 (Air Force 1 CAI, JBA headers, Magnaflow 94106 cats, dual 2.5" pipes, dual Magnaflow 14616 mufflers, Gryphon by PHP or SCT). Once this is done, I expect to see another 1/2 to full second off the 0-60 times. That would be 1 to 1 1/2 seconds faster 0-60 than my 4.2 powered vehicle. Not to shabby for just bolt-ons, no cams or headwork (yet).

A 4.2 beating a 5.4? What DTC codes were the 5.4's computer throwing? How many were P030x's (misfires)? Was it really a drag race, or did you try to challenge him by mashing the go pedal and surprising the 5.4 driver?

In a straight up, side by side, Christmas tree start, same day, same track, similar modifications drag race, the 5.4 would beat the 4.2 with ease.

Now step away from the bong, get some fresh air and Doritos, and wait for your present reality check to clear before you try to cash the next one!

The tireplus guy ****ed up beyond belief. He said it was perfect until I went by three cop radar signs and all of them said 10 mph fast. For Example When doing like 45 my speedo says around 38 or so. Drives me insane. Im going to fix it this weeked or maybe monday.

He is 4x4, which accounts for some of it. He knew it my window was down for a reason. The other truck is my best friend, i had my hand out the window in a count down. He truck runs 100% no codes. Half a second, thats the funniest BS I ever heard. So you dont think me having more mods, a lighter truck and 2WD doesnt make up the half second. Both of your trucks have basically no mods, just like my truck. Nothing too special.

both f150's ive owned have read 3-5 mph faster than the radar signs.

So its only 7 mph off now? it was 15 mph in the other post...

hey good luck with your truck, all were trying to say this would NEVER happen unless what I have previously stated. im done...

Everyone I have been by has been accurate. Im doing 45 at the end not 40, I think. Its by percent so the slower im going the less im off when doing 55 its preety close to 10 mph off.

Something to think about why would I be doing 45 at 1900 RPMS? Thats close to what a do around 60. Just saying, I know your tring to be nice I respect it greatly. I just think too many people think the V6 is more under powered than it is. I notice a difference between my 4.2 and my 4.6, yes. I just think some people may think its much worse than it is.
