2001 f150 2wd lift.
I was wanting to get a lift for my 2wd f150. i want to run 33's and need to know what kind of lift is the best.. i was thinking of getting a 3.5 spindle lift but dont know if that will be enough since the 2wd already sit lower. Any one post pics of their 2wd with lifts. thanks..
You can run 33s with 2" coil spacers or lift springs in the front. Just have to have the right backspacing on wheels. I'd go with 3.5" spindles and you can run just about any wheel. Theres a guy jake on here that ran 33s with a 1.5" daystar spacer I believe.
you can run 33's stock on a 2wd truck ... a 285 75 16 tire is 32.8inch tire ..... fyi
my 97 had 32's when i bought it and it was stock now i am running 3inch coils and the 1.5 inch day star spacer and a 1 inch block in the rear and a 3 inch body lift for a total of 4 inch lift ... still with 33's
this is current with my bl

this is when i bought it with stock susp. and the "32" 31.6 inch tires ...

hey doug, i am curious.... the grill in your truck is it a honey comb grill? if so, how did you get it? was it installed after the fact, or is it from the factory that way. i thought only 4x4s came with the honey comb..?
I used to run 33 (285/75/16) on stock wheels and 1.5" daystar spacer with slight rub at full lock on my sway bar. I don't rub now however haha.
word of advice though if you've thought about the spindle lift I'd say do it big now or you'll regret it and do it later. Just shoot for 35"s now and learn from
my path haha. O and pics are in my album or thread link in my sig for ALL of them
F150farmer- iirc 97-98 xlt's and up came with a cross pattern grille on them and in the 97-98 grille surround and grille are one piece. Do a 99+ swap like me ftw haha

why get the 6 inch ? why not buy the spindles now and of you wanna go bigger all you need are new upper control arms that can be had from where you buy the spindles and you will need a lift coil ... in all reality with a 3.5 inch coil lift you will get a real lift of about 2 inches ...
FYI word for the wise i bought this lift for my ranger i had

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-99...item5ad79ab66e
and this happen the spindle broke at the shaft it broke right in half and i was only running 32's on my ranger ... this was a known problem for that brand of lift as well as others fab tech ...

oh and about my grill it was with my truck when i bought it and it is a one piece grill but i have this odd feeling that my truck was in a wreck at one time or another ... so i dont know that it was stock ...
Yea if your gonna do spindles get doetsch ones. And you can get the 3.5"spindles and 2" lift coils and get you 5.5 in lift and probably with some minor trimming run 35"s depending on your back space. That's the same suspension setup b2therad has plus a bl
not really saying get the 6" but go big no. Rather than later

i really dont want a 6 inch lift but i was thinking the 3.5 spindle lift then adding a 1.5" coil spacer and then running a 3" block in the back for a total of 5 inch in front and running a 33" inch tire on 18's

I am a little late I think. Lift spindles alone allow you to use a 305/70/16 tire which is a 33x12.5. No need for the spacers or anything like that unless you are just wanting it to be bigger. Trust me though from experience, when you get your truck heading up you aren't going to want to stop.
. I put 2" lift coils on and my alignment was thrown off so much by those that my tires were wearing down horribly on the insides within a month. If you don't believe me then I can get some pics for ya, as I still have the tires.
