A weird combination?
I was searching local classifieds and found an ad for a 98 F-150 XLT, power windows and mirrors, SWB stepside, 4x4, manual transfercase, 4.2L V6 and M5OD... whut? My impression was that V6 and especially M5OD's were only available on base level work trucks, not a fully loaded 4x4....

I guess I just found it rather strange. I know that prior to 97, you could get an F-150 or F-250 with virtually any combination of drivetrain and interior trim. Once they replaced the 4.9L with the 4.2L, I figured they severely limited the options. Was it even possible to get a V8 with a 5-speed after 97? I know that now neither Ford nor Chevrolet offers a 5-speed at all in the half-ton range... which is kinda sad.

Ford did some odd things. My 98 F150 Lariat 4.6, had the off road package, with all of teh skid plates, and decals but came with the 16 wheels, and matching door stickers. I did some research through Ford, and that is the way it was delivered, even though it should not have been possible. So anything is possible.
