Synthetic Oil

I have been feeding my truck Walmart oil blowout sales for the past 5 years....whether it is 5W20/30 and run it for at least 5000 miles (sometimes 8000). I used to be all over synthetics but now I know most of them are highly refined dino oils with an over-inflated price tag. I abuse the crap out of my truck with this inferior cheap oil and it sees -35 celcius temps in the morning and the only start-up noises I here is my power steering pump making the typical Ford growl........and I know most of you have the same noise too! lol

6.0 quarts (5.7 Litres) any engine
5w-30 (1997), but you can safely use 5w-20 (Ford changed the spec) Recommend good old MC semi-synth form WallyMary fer ~$3.00 /qt
MC FL820-s filter for the V8's, FL400-s for the V6

Few years back, Ford decided to begin speccing 5w-20 in place of 5w-30 in some vehicles, for CAFE reasons mostly, but for 3-Valves, also for the VCT system.
It was, I believe, made retroactive to earlier MY's that previously had 5w-30 as the recommended oil. Won't hurt anything.
