remanufactured engine?

I have a 2006 ford f150 that had 12oil psi. The dealership I bought the truck from got the warranty company to cover a remanufactured engine. The price of the engine was $3,200. Are remanufactured engines any good?

If it's a Ford factory-authorized reman, it's decent.

Why do you say just decent? If it's not? Will it last long?

A ford crate engine will come with a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty, which includes parts and labor. I don't know if a dealership has to do the installation for the labor part of the warranty. You can ask any dealership for details.

What rebuilt engine is the one for $3200? Who rebuilt it? Is it a Ford reman?

I believe it's ford crate engine because it came with a 3 year unlimited mile warranty. Think it'll last long?

Ford dose not rebuild engines. They have venders who do it per there specifications. There are guys who have had them last hundreds of thousand of miles. Its also possible you could get on that you have to use the warranty on. Generally I think your pretty safe if you get past the 3 years.

Yes to what jethat said.
We used to have to dyno test the reman engines that were rebuilt by Jasper/AER. We would receive long block engines from the suppliers every quarter (4times a year). We would build them up with intake etc. and run durability tests on them just like the new engine coming off the assembly line. Then we would tear them down performing measurements and display the disassembled engine for two weeks while engineers from Ford and the supplier companies would review components. Again same process as a new engine. Percentage of failure between a reman and a new engine was about the same basicly very rare. I would not hesitate to install one in my truck.

For $3200 I'd say do it. I'm doing work on mine right now because it was neglected by at least 1 previous owner. The unfortunate thing for me is I don't give myself any kind of warranty. Really though, when you factor in all the costs you could incur, $3200 ain't bad and the warranty will cover you for the next 3 years.
Does that cover your installation costs or is that just for the engine?
