I found out that the 4.6L motor is rated at 305 without any accessories at the fly wheel, i think thats the number. ill go look it up just to be sure...

EDIT: yup 305hp without any accessories, including full exaust/ intake etc... The book isnt clear tho if its a 4v or 2v 4.6L

305 Going down hill after being struck by lightning maybe.
My 2001 5.4 is rated at 260 at the flywheel. The new 3V 5.4 is only 300.
The old 4.6 is rated at 231. The new 4.6 (still a 2V) is 248.

Thanx my build date 7/98 trans code E , the problem is we can't determine weather it's a 4R100 or the E4OD , it's been impossible to tell- they look the same.

yah im pretty sure its the 4v motor. Like i said its just motor no accessories. No alternator, AC compresor, no air box w/ filter, not cats, no muffler, no exuast, etc. Just motor rated at the fly wheel.

It is in this table in my text book talking about the most effecient motors. Basically the book calls it most effecient if it produces more the 1 hp for each CI of displacement. So a 281CI rated at 305 is very effecient.

Yeah your right the 4.6 4V Cobra engine did have 305HP, well some of them at least thats why ford had to recall some of them. .
you might have a sticker on the valve cover thats got your motors HP & TQ stated on it, but as was said you should have 260 but it also could be 235.

Mine dynoed at 205 hp stock. I have an 06 Lariat 4wd. I couldn't live with that so I dropped some $$$ into it and I'm now very pleased.
