I found out that the 4.6L motor is rated at 305 without any accessories at the fly wheel, i think thats the number. ill go look it up just to be sure...
EDIT: yup 305hp without any accessories, including full exaust/ intake etc... The book isnt clear tho if its a 4v or 2v 4.6L

My 2001 5.4 is rated at 260 at the flywheel. The new 3V 5.4 is only 300.
The old 4.6 is rated at 231. The new 4.6 (still a 2V) is 248.

It is in this table in my text book talking about the most effecient motors. Basically the book calls it most effecient if it produces more the 1 hp for each CI of displacement. So a 281CI rated at 305 is very effecient.

Yeah your right the 4.6 4V Cobra engine did have 305HP, well some of them at least thats why ford had to recall some of them. .
you might have a sticker on the valve cover thats got your motors HP & TQ stated on it, but as was said you should have 260 but it also could be 235.
