system too lean, bank 1 and 2?
hey guys.. i recently just gutted and my two larger rear cats on my 02 5.4L f150.. with no muffler and my pipe is cut off right after my passenger side o2 sensor.. i got my SES light on and got two codes.. system two lean on bank 1 and 2. my question is.. which o2 sensors are bank 1 and 2??? i did the GottsO2 mod on my two rear sensors.. did i need to do it on all four???
any help would be greatly appreciated guys.. oh and will this affect my trucks performance at all??

You may have a coincidental vacuum leak.

front uppers.
i just ha the exact same codes on my crown vic - and with the cel light on my performance and mileage was heavily effected. once replaced the o2's everything was fine.

i have the same exact problem no shop in town can figure it out im about to do the gotts o2 mod.
and yes it does effect proformance and MPG i cant haul anything without bogging it down and im getting about 7-10 MPG i have had it since early december
if you do fix it post it up so i can to
(might be a back pressure problem fixed buy a programmer and custom tune) just a theory though

turns out that i just had a massive massive leak where my headers come into my exhaust piping.. no CEL thus far.. looks like i am good to go.. hopefully

no didnt take it to a shop.. my CEL came back on but this time only bank 1 apparently.. will check for vacuum leak tomorrow i guess

alright. i finally giving up it i get 9 mpg or less this next half tank im taking it to the stealer-ship

Do you like your truck? Reason asking was the last time I read that a guy had a problem with a 2002 truck and when he came back to report how he fixed it he said he fixed it by trading it in on a 2009

no i hate my ford. i know you will all hate me but i much rather have a chevy then ford. i grew up with chevys ( found this ford for 4500 01 4x4 5.4 ext cab 165000 miles). and im 17 i dont have the money now to get a new truck until i get my enlistment bonus

So you cut the exhaust off right after the rear O2's? It could be possible the exhaust is too short causing atmospheric air to enter the exhaust giving a false lean condition. Try adding a piece of exhaust piping to extend it 18" or so.

No hating, We understand. Once you get that money maybe you can upgrade to somethingwith less miles. Buying a vehicle with such high miles always is a risk of problematic issues shortly after, but respect for you buying your truck and maintaining it.
