question about gryphon monochrome screen

hey i tried to post this on PHP's forum but haven't been activated yet. heres my problem. When I plug it in to the obd port it turns on, gives me the terms and conditions press enter to agree menu. (pressed enter) Then shows the menu make sure key is on but don't start. (Turned key to on). Calibration info ECM:RXAP9B6 press enter to continue (pressed enter, heard a click) nothing happens. (pressed enter again and no click is heard.) that is as far as it goes. What can i do to fix this? To me it sounds like I may have to fork up $75 to unlock it.

Does it go back to the menu or what ? After you press 'enter' the second time it is supposed to go to the PID readout ie:...temps, rpm, volts, or whatever the display is set for. It does not do any programming at this point.

negative. After i press enter the second time the screen still reads the hex code and freezes there. I've used the programmer for almost a year now and I went to basic training and while i was gone my parents disconnected it because it was running the battery down. Now when i reconnect it this is what happens.

Doesn't sound like it is locked. When was the last time you had your battery checked. These programmers do all kinds of funky things when the battery is weak.

Raggidy, it doesn't sound to me like you're connecting the monochrome programmer correctly. The ignition key needs to be in the ON (engine off) position BEFORE you plug the programmer into the OBD port. Is this what you're doing? If not, give that a try. The monochrome Edge/Gryphon needs full power (not keep alive voltage) upon connection to initialize (boot up) properly.

The fact that it shows you your ".HEX" code makes me think it's not locked, but if it's a Gryphon (black case) it MAY have custom tunes installed and these will not work on your truck.

But I'm really confused by your description of the way it behaves when you plug it in. Are you sure you have a "monochrome" Gryphon (the screen is all one color - usually green, with black text)? Or could it possibly be one of the newer CS/CTS programmers that show multi-colored displays, both in the startup splash screen and in the analog gauges? These also show you white text against a dark background. Your startup description sounds more like a CS/CTS than a monochrome device.

If you're not sure, can you post a picture? What I can suggest is different depending on the model you have.

I'll get pics tomorrow. It's a black box and it has a blue background with black text. When it was working properly i could adjust the hew to make it a red, green, or any color background. I was running a custom tune on it for months with no problems. When it was unplugged it was still running the custom tune. Is it not working properly because it wasn't set to stock before being unplugged?

RECHARGE your battery and get it load tested.
