Question Question on Body Lift and Larger tires for 4x4

I have a few questions on lifting my 2001 SuperCrew 4x4 and adding bigger tires.

What is the largest and widest BFG-AT I can install after a PA 3" body lift?

What rim width and offset should I buy? 16" or 17" diam.

Any other tips or tricks would be appreciated as well.

Thanks

44x14.5......if you don't want to turn your front wheels....

Actually, many guys on here are running a 35x12.5 (315/75/16) tire with a 3" body lift.

RIm width should be 8 or 8.5 with the above tires.

Not sure on the offset, though.

35's (315/75-16) should fit with either a 8 or 10 inch wide rim. You will probably have to trim the front bumper's lower plastic valance and/or crank up the torsion bars if you go with 10 inch rims. I personally think the 10's look a lot better. Check out my gallary and some of the others and decide for yourself. I would recommend going with a 16 inch rim because of a wider selection of tires and rims

Also most rims for F-150's have around 4.5 inches of backspacing like the stock rims.

Thanks people,,,,,,,, I think I will order the parts and tires today.

Wandell thanks for the incite, I would love to view your gallery, if I knew how to see it, all I can get is many galleries and no way of telling which one is yours.

If you or someone else could instruct me on how to search or whatever it takes I would be most appreciative.

Here it is, and it does look great Wandell!

to view a gallery if they don't have a link in the sig (like mine) just go to the page where you search through the galleries and put their name in the search field. I put wandell in and it came up easy!

Thumbs up

Great looking truck Wandell that is just the look I want for my screw. Tell me exactly what the parts and peices are, ie: rims, tires, lift, just so I can get the order going as quickly as possible.
Here in Canada we need to go to the parts suppliers armed with all the knowlage and part numbers we can get so that the process is short and sweet, otherwise you get the ,,, duh,Idonno look from the supplier.

Thank you Noel Gallagher for the picture and info, I still can't search for or find that truck or Wandell's gallery link anywhere. I'll keep trying though, I may stumble on it soon enough.

Again,,, thanks poeple, and way cool ride Wandell.

The lift is a Performance Accessories 3 inch body lift. The tires are BFG AT KO's (285/75-16). The rims are Eagle Alloy 589's, size 16x10, 5x135mm bolt pattern. I would recommend getting BFG AT KO 305/70-16 however. They are the same height (33") but are an inch wider. THey just started making the 305's in the AT KO line a couple of weeks ago so salemen may not be familiar with that size yet.

Also everything mentioned above is available through 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers if you can't find them anywhere else.

How much did the body lift cost, and what should I expect to pay to have it installed by someone?? I may have missed this info also, but did it make the hitch or anything else look funny with the lift??

The Performance Accessories body lift should be around $140 or so from Summit or 4Wheel Parts, plus about $50 or so for the gap guards. I have read of members getting prices from $300 to $800 for an installation. It's not a hard install but it takes a long time because you have a lot of little steps to take. The reciever hitch will hand down 3 inches lower after the lift, but I don't think it looks bad at all. The stock Ford hitch is almost completely hidden, so now mine looks like a stock Chevy o Dodge hitch. Also the front of the frame is very long and will be visable through the front bumper's lower plastic valance if you don't trim it like the instructions say. I just cut the end of my frame off in front of the bolt holes for the tow hooks.

Hi Wandell,

That pic that Noel posted of your truck looks amazing!
Is that pic with just the 3 inch body lift, or is that with a suspension lift also?

Thanks
Alex

It's just a 3" body lift. The Ford's sit pretty tall from the factory, like a 4x4 should. I have parked next to new Z-71's and I swear my truck was at least 3" taller before the lift.

I noticed that also when I got my truck. I didn't realize they stood that tall from the factory.
