Your tires are 16x7".

Go to

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...del=LTX+M%2FS.

It will give you the specs on different tire sizes including rim sizes for the Michelin LTX MS. You can also pick other tires and do the same thing.

I just put 285/75-16 on stock rims with the same engine and 3.55 diff ratio as you. I have 3' lift so don't know if they would rub without the lift....................Scott

Talking tires

I just put on some 285/75 R16s on a stock 98 ext cab and have no problems. I haven't had it off road with these tires yet so I don't know if they will hit in off camber situations.

It makes a big difference in the looks of the truck!!!

from reading all of your posts, the widest tire to fit would be the 285's?

2001 4.2 V6 2WD
5 - Speed
Short Bed Reg. Cab
3.55 Gears
AirRaid FIPK
Gibson Super Truck
Rhino Liner

I have the same truck as you. It depends on what you want to to with your truck. I am concerned with mud and snow so I went with a taller tire that is thinner than the stock 255's. I put on 235/85-16s. I love them, they look great and really cut through the mud. I chose to go up in height (from 30" to 31.6") so that they'd be less likely to spin. It makes the truck a little slower off the line and the speedo is 5mph slow at 60mph but I don't mind either of those things. Hope this helps.

Oh, by the way...If you go with a tire that has a taller side wall make sure that you get a high load rating like C or D.

I have 285s on my 98 with stock rims and they are fine but just so you know the recommended width for 285 is 7.5 wide rim.
