Question fattest tires on stock rims?

I got the stock size tires (255/70/16) on my F150 with the stock factory alloy rims. Anyone out there know what the widest size tires I can put on my stock rims? Also, can I put 60 or 50 series on the factory rims as well? Thanks for any help.

Tire manufacturers have rim width spec requirement for each tire. Go by that figure rather than what someone else stuck on their rims. Too much width on a rim will create handling/safety problems, may result in tire rollover and void warranties.

My King Ranch came with 275/60R17 on the stock rims, which I think are the same width as the stock 16's.

Cool violator-

With the stock rims it's fine to go wider and taller. As mentioned previously, don't go too wide. I used 275/60/16; any larger would start to bulge on my rims.

Max,

Do you have the 275/60/16 on the stock 4x2 rims?
What did you pay for your Pirellis? How do they look and handle? Got pictures?

Thanks, Violator.

Cool violator-

Yes, they're on stock 16X7 rims.
They cost $120 each.
They look great, handle much better (very noticeable),& have minimal sidewall flex.
I don't have any pics that show good resolution of them.
You can see the tread pattern on a bunch of websites.
