Opinion on these oem wheels

Currently have the 17" oem chrome clad. I can get this set of brand new oem 17" aluminum wheels for only $200. They've literally never been used.

Worth it for the upgrade? I like the look of my current wheels, but I feel these maybe too good to pass.

Do my lugs for the chrome clad steel wheels work for these? Or do I need another set? Other than swapping the tpms I think they'd work out nicely.

Nice looking wheel and great price. You will shave some weight off too so it's a win/win.
Not sure on the lugs, but looks like they may work with what you have.

Thanks! Are aluminum wheels noticibly lighter in weight?

I think mine ended up being around 9 lbs lighter than the stock (steel) wheels.

Ah, I see!

I'm only partially torn because I do like that my chrome wheels match the running boards, door levers and exhaust tip. The aluminum are obviously a nicer wheel though.

Did a quick copy and paste on my phone to see what they'd look like. Now that I'm seeing what they'd look like, I think I like them more.

Aluminum should be better for winter weather too if you get any of that salty roads stuff

I like the looks of the new wheels better than the old ones too! They're a great upgrade, both for appearance and for performance.

Thanks guy! I appreciate the input. Think I may pull the trigger, the price is too good to pass up.

Patman, we get tons of salt. My original steel wheels had to be touched up around the edges yearly, the current chrome clad look fine. Good to know about the aluminum though.

Did you get them?

Alloy wheels always are at least as smooth and most always ..... smoother .... than steel wheels when watched on the spin balancer, they are machined and rigid where steel wheels are stamped and welded and can bend. The lighter weight will also make those 4 flywheels lighter to spin up to speed and brake to a halt and will be easier for shocks to control over the rough stuff.

If you get the new ones, I'd suggest giving them a heavy coat of paste wax (or something similar) all over to try and seal off the metal before the road salt gets to them.

I agree that the new ones look better than the chrome ones. FWIW, my truck has aluminium wheels but chrome steps and to tell the truth, I've never even noticed the difference in appearance.

I ended up sticking with the chrome clad I have now. I guess I just felt they match my truck better.

It was tough since the aluminum wheels were such a great deal.
