98 f150 xlr 4x4 tire questions

So I'm new here I've had my truck for about 2 years it came with 255 75 16 on it looking to go something bigger like a 305 70 16 or 285 75 16 it's got 2 inch blocks in the rear and sits quite level for doing nothing to it yet wonderING if them sizes will fit and what I may have to do to make them fit would prefer the 305s any help would be greatly appreciated can get pics of truck later if needed has 245 75 16s on it right now since they were free

My current 2002 has 265/70x17s. I've seen the same vintage truck with 285/70x17 tires on it. That's the largest that is recommended for the wheel width which is 7 1/2" if I remember correctly.

Ya it's got 7.5 inch wide rims it came stock with the 255 70 on it I don't want to do a lift cause it's not worth the price but I need tires and I can get a good deal at work on them it's definitely not a show truck it a old beat up huntin truck that I drive daily and want something that's bigger and more aggresive

I've been considering 285/70x17s for my truck since I drive out on the beach sand a lot. Sometimes I have to deflate the tires to avoid getting stuck depending on how dry and soft the sand is that day. One time I had to go down to 15 psig to get off the beach.

Both sizes you mentioned will easily fit using the stock wheels. In fact, a lot of people have run 315/70-17's (35x12.50) by using the stock wheels, but they will rub the frame at full steering lock.
