97 f150 4x4 XLT tire size

hey guys, i bought my son a 97 f150 4x4 xlt stock tire size p235 70 r16sl...now im wanting to get him some new tires for it..and he's wanting bigger but im not fully into lifting his truck just yet...so i was wondering whats a good size for just leaving it stock and coming up in size a bit thanks for the help!!

would i have any problems with rubbing or anything on the 265?

im gonna go with the 265 75r16 right now it has 245 70r16's on it... will their be a big diffence in speed or anything?

Go to the sticky at the top of this forum and put the 2 sizes in one of the calculators. It will tell you exactly the difference in your speedometer.

I'd go with at least a 285/75-16 (33x11.50) tire personally.

I have 285/75/16 on my 2000 with stock wheels and and they don't rub at all. They fill the wheel well out nicely but they don't have that "stuffed" look that 35's do on a stock height truck. The speedo will be off about 12% though.

Listen to this man, he is wise lol. I had 285's on mine before I went to 35's and had no issue. When you get an alignment the tire shop will most likely turn up the torsion bars and level it out for free.
