Wheel and tire advice please

Hey everyone. It's almost my birthday and wheels and tires are on the list. Just want to confirm whether what I'm thinking will work or not. Here's what I have:

2010 FX4 Supercrew
1.5" AS level (same as a 2" level from any other company)

Would the following work?

20x9 XD Monsters +18 offset
295/60/20 Nitto Trail Grapplers

If rubbing would occur, just valence?

Or should I stick with 305/55/20?

Thanks!

Sounds like you know the deal. With the +18 you should be clear of the control arms, but may need to trim the valance as you stated.

Thanks. Yeah I've read and read and read, just want to make sure before I sink the investment. And tire shops are usually the least helpful because they are always conservative. If you get any rub, they're reluctant. As far as the trimming goes, is this something that needs to be done prior to the purchase or will I be able to manage to begin with to assess how much needs to be trimmed? Thanks again!

I'd go with 305/55-20's personally. I think you are gonna have some serious rubbing with the 295's. They are basically a 35x12.00-20 tire.

Check this thread from the other f150 site. Also have a friend with a 2012 fx4 leveled with 35x12.5/20 toyo mts with no rubbing after valance trim. Can maybe snap a picture later today.

Yeah see this is where I get so confused. I thought we had greater clearances on these trucks. I fit a 305/55/20 on 20x10's on my 2002 fx4. That was just with my torsion bars cranked. And yeah the specs on that 295 are 34.45 x 12.13. I thought by going a little narrower than a 12.5, I'd get a bit more clearance as I was under the impression that the width of the oversize tires is what starts to cause the problem. What are the specs of the stock 2010 fx4 18" wheels? Width, backspacing/offset?

Thanks! Checked that out. Saw some others over there that I believe were running what I'm looking for. Just trust the guys on this site. I know the crowd! Haha. Wandell in particular. But if you could snap a pic of your friends that would be great. Does he only have a 2" level?

Russ, the wheel's you mentioned will stick out about 1 1/2 inches more then the stock 20's. With a 295x60x20 Trail Grappler on you may have some rubbing on the lower wheelwell's and the plastic valence in the front when making hard turn's. It depend's how much trimming you want to do to make them fit. I think you can make them fit but it may turn out to be an expensive mistake. Like Wandell said a 305x55x20 may be a better option. Do a little more research before buying.

Here's the link on the other site that has a few guys running it with a 2" level. What do you think?

Thanks for the info. Will definitely go at least 305/55/20. Nice looking truck!

Were you wondering what I meant by that? All I meant was (rightfully so) they are conservative in telling you what will "fit". For them if there's any rubbing or trimming, they'll say it's a no go. That's all I meant. Now they'll still order whatever I want, but if I just went in for advice, they'll look at their computer and tell me what it spits out.

Look's like the 295x60's may work on those wheel's after all. You still may have to do some trimming and don't plan on doing any rough offroading either! I'd try to test fit on the front first to make sure of the clearance if that's possible.

Here is my friends from work. 1.5 inch level and 35 toyo mt, with 20s. Not sure of his offset but I would guess +35 or so. They tuck in pretty far.

Yeah. I'm going to Odessa (where that guy is from) and think I'll see if I can meet up with him and take a look.

Russ - Give us a call. Would be happy to help with the fitment on the XD's- even if you buy elsewhere. We dont sell Nitto, so I can't help you there, but can give you some suggestions on tire sizes.
