Damage from pot hole

I have an 08 F150 FX4, and hit a pretty bad pot hole with the rain we had over the weekend.

Threw the alignment off, and when steering wheel is in the left position I hear a knock from the front end. Doesn't make a sound when turning right. I'm thinking a bad cv joint? Any other suggestions what it could be and of any place to buy parts from?

parts can be bought from rock auto. Its a great place with fast shipping. Im not sure what the problem would be though.

If in 2wd, the CV joints are not turning, so they should not be making noise. My guess is something else.

If it helps, I hear the noise in 2wd when moving slowly from idle to 10+ mph with steering wheel at or near full lock left.

Could just be a tie rod end, 22 bucks at your local vato-zone. Mine went out with only 31K on the clock.

Update on the sound driving in a circle at full lock left, noise isn't consistent. In making 3-4 circles I heard a thud/knock type sound maybe 3 times. When coming out of the circle and wheel is just about straight I hear the sound one more time.

Here's a pic from the passenger side, side which I hit the pothole. Noticed there's a bunch of grease sitting there.

Driver side for reference:

From the pics I'd say your passenger side outer cv joint is toast. You wore or tore a hole in the boot and over time lost most or all of the grease which caused a premature failure of the joint. Oh and the pothole did not do that, you've been slinging grease for a while. The pothole may have been the last straw that broke the camels back but it didn't cause the failure.

Thanks for your help. You think I could get away with having Ford warranty this? Keep in mind I'm on 33's with aftermarket wheels + 2.5" Level kit.

depends on your mileage and how friendly your local dealer is.

16,000 miles warranty is up Dec this year. Been going to the same dealership since I was 17 with my Mustang. I'll cross my fingers.

Then again same dealership reinstalled my catback backwards on the Mustang after doing transmission work, I pointed it out to them and they told me I was shiit out of luck. They made some BS excuse end sent me off my way without fixing it. That was a while ago though.
