newbie spacer and tire question

I just bought my first ford f150. its a 2001 crew cab lariet. I want to make it look more aggressive. I want bigger tires but really dont have the cash yet to buy new rims. So first question is whats the biggest tire i could put on a stock rims. Right now I have bald 265/70/17s wranglers on them. 2nd question is id like them to stick out of the wheel wells a little bit. I was wondering if spacers are any good. I use the truck for my everyday driver and take it off road to go hunting. Any help would be great.

Looks like that wheel is only 7.5" wide. I would say a 285/70R17 will fit the wheel but might be a little big for the truck. Works out to be about 32.8" tall.

As for the spacers. I have never talked to anyone who has had good luck with spacers. Adds a lot of extra wear and tear on the wheel bearings and other components on the truck. Your best bet would be to just save up and get different wheels for the vehicle.

I agree. Or a 305/65-17 if you plan on wider wheels in the near future.

A 305mm wide tire is wider than recommended for the OEM 7.5 inch wide wheel, but they will fit. Sometimes running a wider than recommended tire can cause the center of the tire's tread to wear slightly faster than normal.

Im looking for cheap wheels now. Would it be better to go with 16" that are 10" wide or stick with a 17 and get the 9" wide.

I would say that would be a personal preference. I would probably go with the 17" size myself.

Right. Personally, I think a 16x10 will look better than a 17x9.
