Looking for brake recommendations...
29k right now, and I'm noticing the pulsing when going downhill. Time to change the brakes.
Being a DIY-er, I'm not gonna even consider handing her over to the dealer for this type of work.
But, not having done brakes on a truck before, I'm seeking recommendations for rotor/pad combo's.
I drive aggressively, but slow/stop conservatively. Travel <20 miles per day, about 50/50 highway/city.
Whatcha got?

Depends on your budget. You will get absolutely great results from turning the stock rotors and installing a quality name brand pad...Wagner, Hawk, and EBC bein the most popular around here, with the Wagners most likely winning the "best bang for the buck" race.
Buying new, uber cool slotted/drilled rotors doesn't really gain you tons of brake performance. That woul just be if you love spending money on your truck for cool stuff like I do.

You don't turn them...you take them to a reputable shop and have them turned. I've been turning rotors for eons and never had a problem. If it's not too far out of whack, turning rotors will also remove the warp. Plus, any reputable shop will not turn a rotor passed the minimum thickness which is stamped on the rotor. Trust me, turning rotors doesn't degrade a thing.

Have to agree with Galaxy. If you can turn the stock ones do it. If they are warped the shop will let you know. If you must buy new dont go cheap you will regret it next year when you are replacing them again. I am hard on brakes and the went with the Wagner TQs on Wagner rotors up front. Very low dust and great performance. On the rear I have Motocraft bads and rotors, dust really isnt an issue back there like th efront.

I just put Duralast (Autozone) rotors on the front of my 06. $110 for fronts. Already had the stock rotors turned once. Truck had around 38K or so when I replaced them. Pads had almost no wear on them but the pads were replaced right before I bought the truck at 19K.
Was going to put slotted on but after thinking about what would happen if one cracked I decided on solid.

I suggest doing that with thermoquiet pads. I just done that a couple weeks ago and am more than pleased with the price and results! A respectable place won't turn your stock rotors if they are out of tolerance. If you need new rotors, they are only about $50 a piece for the fronts for OEM replacement at a parts store.

an '08 with 29K is under warranty, no? My rotors warped and and the dealer gave me new rotors for free under warranty, I just had to give them the old ones back. They didn't want to cut them since they were warped. The service manager said Ford will do 1 set of rotors under warranty, even though they're a wear item. I tow a LOT and I put in Wagner SevereDuty front pads. I can really tell a difference, these pads really bite hard. No brake dust either which is a bonus.
